Zhangcun, Mianchi County
Zhangcun is a town of Mianchi County, Sanmenxia, Henan Henan; alternatively Honan is a province in Central China. It was formally established in 1960 as Zhangcun commune, changed to Zhangcun township in 1984 and changed to town in 1995. In 2019, the town had a population of 26,000 people. The local economy relies mainly on coal, bauxite and limestone mining, and wheat and tobacco cultivation. As mineral resources in the town neared exhaustion, the local economy has been in a downturn. Sanmenxia
Sanmenxia ( zh, s= , t= , p=Sānménxiá; Postal romanization, postal: Sanmenhsia) is a prefecture-level city in the west of Henan, Henan Province, China. The westernmost prefecture-level city in Henan, Sanmenxia borders Luoyang to the east, Nanyang, Henan, Nanyang to the southeast, Shaanxi, Shaanxi Province to the west and Shanxi, Shanxi Province to the north. The city lies on the south side of the Yellow River at the point where the river cuts through the Loess Plateau on its way to the North China Plain. As of the 2020 census, it was home to 2,034,872 inhabitants of which 820,300 lived in the built-up area made of Hubin District, Hubin, Shanzhou urban districts and Pinglu County in neighboring Shanxi (205,080 inhabitants), now within the agglomeration. Mianchi County
Mianchi County is a county under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city of Sanmenxia, in the northwest of Henan province, bordering Shanxi province to the north and northwest. Its population in 2019 was 353,200. History Mianchi is known for the ancient Yangshao Culture, the remains of which were first found by Swedish geologist Johan Gunnar Andersson. In 1921, he discovered some pieces of pottery in the north of Mianchi County, near the town of Yangshao. In 2006, the government of Mianchi County experimented with direct democracy, allowing citizens could voice their thoughts about proposed projects through petitions.
