Zhang Xiaobai
Zhang Xiaobai (; born 19 December 1982) is a Chinese comics artist. She won the Gold Award at the 4th International Manga Award in 2011. Biography Zhang was born in Anshan, Liaoning, China, on December 19, 1982. She graduated from Renmin University of China. In 2006, her manhua, ''Hello'', won the Best short Award at the 5th China Manhua Award. In 2011, her manhua, ''Si loin et si proche'', was awarded the Gold Award at the 4th International Manga Award. Manhua
() are Chinese-language comics produced in China and Taiwan. Whilst Chinese comics and narrated illustrations have existed in China in some shape or form throughout its imperial history, the term first appeared in 1904 in a comic titled ''Current Affairs Comics'' () in the Shanghai-based newspaper ''Jingzhong Daily'' (). Etymology The word was originally an 18th-century term used in Chinese literati painting. It became popular in Japan as ''manga'' in the late 19th century. Feng Zikai reintroduced the word to Chinese, in the modern sense, with his 1925 series of political cartoons entitled ''Zikai Manhua'' in the ''Wenxue Zhoubao'' (Literature Weekly). While terms other than had existed before, this particular publication took precedence over the many other descriptions for cartoon art that were used previously and came to be associated with all Chinese comic materials. Anshan () is an inland prefecture-level city in central-southeast Liaoning province, People's Republic of China, about south of the provincial capital Shenyang.
