Alex Zettl is an American professor of experimental condensed-matter physics. His research involving the properties of novel materials has produced significant advances in the field. Biography Zettl received a B.A. degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1978. He received a Ph.D. degree from University of California, Los Angeles in 1983. He joined the faculty of the UCB Physics Department in 1983 without doing a post-doc. He is currently a Professor of Physics and a Senior Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Beyond his scientific accomplishments, he is also a world traveller who has scaled several of the world's famous peaks. Carbon Sciences is a public corporation based in Santa Barbara. The company was founded in 2006 and incorporated as Zingerang, Inc. Originally, the company was involved in mobile communication, but has since switched to developing to fuel technology. Calcium carbonate, Ca C O3, was briefly looked at as another end product of recycling. On April 2, 2007, the name was changed to Carbon Sciences Inc. Their process differs from other projects in that it does not utilize high pressure or high temperature. This would be a significant advantage when trying to scale the technology up to commercial production. Walter Zettl
Walter A. Zettl (1929 - June 7, 2018) was a German dressage rider and Olympic-level dressage horse trainer. He was born in 1929 in Alt-Rohlau, Bohemia, which is now Stará Role in the Karlovy Vary region of the Czech Republic. Career Zettl began his riding career in 1945, as a student of Herbert Aust. In 1950, at the age of 21, Zettl became the youngest person ever to be awarded the German Federation Gold Riding Medal, for success in upper level dressage and jumping for a single competitive season. In 1952, he was selected to compete for Germany's dressage team in the Helsinki Summer Olympics, but was ruled to be a professional rider and therefore ineligible. In 1953 Walter Zettl was chosen to succeed Otto Loerke and Willi Schultheis as trainer at Gestuet Vornholz. In 1955, he earned his formal ''Reitlehrer'' certification as a riding coach and began training young champions while continuing to compete himself.
