Zenobia Camprubí
Zenobia Camprubí Aymar (31 August 1887 – 25 October 1956) was a Spain, Spanish-born writer and poet; she was also a noted translator of the works of Rabindranath Tagore. She was born in Malgrat de Mar (province of Barcelona, Catalonia) to a Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican mother and a Spanish father. She later lived in the United States, studied at Columbia University, and spent the duration of the Spanish Civil War (18 July 1936 – 1 April 1939) writing her ''Diario'' ("Diary") in Cuba. Her brother, José Camprubí, was owner and publisher of ''El Diario La Prensa, La Prensa'', New York's most important Spanish-language daily newspaper, from 1918 to 1942. She eventually became a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland before her death from ovarian cancer, aged 69, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, two days after her husband Juan Ramón Jiménez received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Malgrat De Mar
Malgrat de Mar is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Maresme, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the Costa Brava between Santa Susanna and Blanes. A local road runs from the town to the main N-II road, while the B-682 connects it with Blanes, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar. It is served by a RENFE railway station on the R1 line between Barcelona and Maçanet-Massanes. History Malgrat de Mar was originally part of the barony of Palafolls and the first fishermen's houses were built around the chapel of Sant Antoni Abat, on the left bank of a stream called Malgrat de Mar. José Camprubí
José Augusto Luis Raimundo Camprubí y Aymar (November 28, 1879 – March 11, 1942) was a pioneering Spanish-language newspaper publisher in the United States and an advocate of cooperation between North America, South America, and Spain. Early life José Augusto Luis Raimundo Camprubí y Aymar was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, which was then a Spanish colony, to Raimundo Camprubí y Escudero and Isabel Aymar y Lucca de Camprubí. His father, a Catalan civil engineer, was working in Puerto Rico for the Spanish colonial government, supervising the construction of the Ponce-Coamo road. When he was still an infant, Camprubí was taken by his parents to Spain, and he grew up in Barcelona. Education Camprubí came to the United States in 1896 and studied at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. Coamo (, ) is a town and municipality founded in 1579 in the south-central region of Puerto Rico, located north of Santa Isabel; south of Orocovis and Barranquitas; east of Villalba and Juana Díaz; and west of Aibonito and Salinas. Zenobia
Septimia Zenobia (Palmyrene Aramaic: , , vocalized as ; AD 240 – c. 274) was a third-century queen of the Palmyrene Empire in Syria. Many legends surround her ancestry; she was probably not a commoner and she married the ruler of the city, Odaenathus. Her husband became king in 260, elevating Palmyra to supreme power in the Near East by defeating the Sassanians and stabilizing the Roman East. After Odaenathus' assassination, Zenobia became the regent of her son Vaballathus and held de facto power throughout his reign. In 270, Zenobia launched an invasion that brought most of the Roman East under her sway and culminated with the annexation of Egypt.
