History The family became important in the second half of the 16th and early 17th century in the First Republic of Poland. Grand Marshal of the Crown Mikołaj Zebrzydowski was one of the key people of the rokosz of 1606 against King Sigismund III Vasa, the so-called Zebrzydowski Rebellion. Mikołaj Zebrzydowski (1494–1568)
Mikołaj Zebrzydowski (1553–1620) of Radwan coat of arms, voivode of Lublin from 1589, Grand Crown Marshal between 1596–1600, voivode of Kraków from 1601. He is famous for an armed rebellion against King Sigismund III Vasa, the Zebrzydowski Rebellion, a ''rokosz'' named after himself. It took place in 1606, and was defeated by 1607. After the failed rebellion, he sponsored the creation of the Roman Catholic monastery of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, which is regarded as one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Poland. Rawicz (; german: Rawitsch) is a town in west-central Poland with 21,398 inhabitants as of 2004. Kalisz Voivodeship 1314–1793 (Polish: ''Województwo Kaliskie'', Latin: ''Palatinatus Calisiensis'') was an administrative unit of Poland from 1314 to the Second Partition of Poland in 1793.
