Zbůch
Zbůch (german: Zwug) is a municipality and village in Plzeň-North District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,000 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Červený Újezd is an administrative part of Zbůch. Etymology The origin of the name is unclear. It was probably derived from the Old Czech ''zbóh, zbuoh'' (in modern Czech ''zbůhdarma''), meaning "in vain". Geography Zbůch is located about southwest of Plzeň. It lies in the Plasy Uplands. The terrain is flat to slightly undulating. History Early history The first written mention of Zbůch is from 1253, when it was cited as a property of the Chotěšov Abbey, Premonstratensian monastery in Chotěšov. However, the settlement is thought to have its roots in prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous Archeology, archeological finds in the area dating from the Bronze Age.
