Zaragoza (Monterrey Metro)
General I. Zaragoza ( or ''Terminal Zaragoza'') is a station on Lines 2 and 3 of the Monterrey Metro. It is located in Monterrey, on the heart of the Macroplaza. The station was opened on 30 November 1994 as the eastern terminus of the inaugural section of Line 2, between General Anaya and Zaragoza. This station serves the heart of the Monterrey shopping district. It is one block away from Morelos Street, and Monterrey's Zona Rosa, MARCO museum and the Monterrey City Hall. It is accessible for people with disabilities. It is named after General Ignacio Zaragoza and the nearby Avenida Ignacio Zaragoza. The station logo depicts this Mexican military genius – the hero of the Battle of Puebla – astride his horse. Nuevo León () is a state in the northeast region of Mexico. Macroplaza
The Macroplaza or La Gran Plaza is a town square or plaza located in the heart of the city of Monterrey, Mexico. The Macroplaza is the fifth-largest plaza in the world and the largest Plaza in Mexico. It has an extension of 400,000 square metres consisting of various monuments, smaller plazas and gardens. The Macroplaza was built in the early 1980s during the governorship of Alfonso Martínez Domínguez. The construction of the Macroplaza required the demolition of several old buildings and houses including a famous movie theater. One of the most iconic monuments of the city is the Faro del Comercio (Lighthouse of Commerce), a 70-meter-tall modern lighthouse located in the same plaza, equipped with a green laser, that shot its light around the city at nights. The General Anaya station () is a station on the Monterrey Metro. The station was opened on 30 November 1994 as the northern terminus of the inaugural section of Line 2, between General Anaya and Zaragoza. On 31 October 2007, the line was extended north to Universidad. General Anaya is an underground station located on ''Avenida Alfonso Reyes'' in the city of Monterrey. Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín (; March 24, 1829September 8, 1862) was a Mexican general and politician. He led the Mexican army of 600 men that defeated 6,500 invading French forces, including the elite French legionnaires at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (mostly celebrated in the United States as ''Cinco de Mayo''). Early life Ignacio Zaragoza was born in the Mexican province of Texas, in the village of Bahía del Espíritu Santo, in the state of Coahuila y Tejas (now Goliad, Texas, in the United States) on March 24th in 1829. From birth, Zaragoza seemed destined to be a man who worked for the government, as his father, Miguel Zaragoza, met his mother, Maria, while on duty and stationed at Bexar in 1825.
