Dhafer Youssef
Dhafer Youssef ( ar, ظافر يوسف; born 19 November 1967) is a Tunisian composer, singer and oud player. Biography Dhafer Youssef was born in Téboulba (a small village of coastal Tunisia); his grandfather was a muezzin. He calls the radio "the most important school" for him. He developed an interest in jazz at an early age and clandestinely listened to it during his education at a Qur'anic school. He later left Tunisia to start a jazz career and has lived in Europe since 1990, usually in Paris or Vienna. He also works in avant-garde and world music where he has been nominated for awards. He has released six albums of his own and created notable work with Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu and the Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset. Zafer al-Masri ( ar, ظافر المصري; 1940 2 March 1986) was the Israel-appointed Mayor of Nablus, for a brief period of two months (January to March 1986). He had taken office in January 1986 as mayor in Nablus, the largest Arab town in the West Bank to replace an Israeli army officer who had served as an Israeli-appointed administrator for Nablus for the previous four years (1982-1986) after the removal of Bassam Shakaa the former elected Arab mayor of Nablus in 1982 for the latter's pro-PLO positions. David Zafer
David Zafer (April 2, 1934 – April 20, 2019) was a Canadian violinist and pedagogue. He was born in London, England, and moved to Canada in 1947. Background David Zafer studied with Elie Spivak and Albert Pratz at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. From 1966 to 1999 he was a Professor of Violin in the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, where he became professor emeritus. Zafer performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra from 1956 to 1959, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as assistant concertmaster 1960-61, and orchestra of the National Ballet of Canada as concertmaster from 1961 to 1964. He founded the Chamber Orchestra at the University of Toronto, and directed it until his retirement. Emre Zafer Barnes, (born Winston Barnes on 7 November 1988) is a Jamaica-born Turkish sprinter.Barnes won the 100 m race at the 2015 Salzburg Athletics Gala in Austria. Zafer Yelen (born 30 August 1986) is a Turkish footballer who plays for MSV Normannia 08. Career Club career Yelen was born in Berlin, Germany. He played for various clubs in Berlin, most recently for Tennis Borussia Berlin in the Junior League East, where he was discovered by the former Hansa Rostock coach Frank Pagelsdorf.
