Zach Lindley
Zach Lindley (born November 9, 1999) is a former professional Canadian football defensive back who played for two seasons for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). University career Lindley played U Sports football for the Western Mustangs from 2017 to 2021. He used a redshirt season in 2017 as the team won the 53rd Vanier Cup championship. Professional career Lindley was drafted in the eighth round, 69th overall, by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2022 CFL Draft and signed with the team on May 13, 2022. Following training camp, he began the season on the practice roster, but made his professional debut on July 2, 2022, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he had two special teams tackles. He played in 12 of the next 15 games, missing three due to injury, where he recorded one defensive tackle and 13 special teams tackles. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs. Western Mustangs
The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams. Their mascot is a Mustang named J.W. and the school colours are purple and white. The university's varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference and the national U Sports organization. Western University offers 21 varsity sports for men and 19 for women which compete in the OUA conference. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Roughriders compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West Division. The Roughriders were founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club. The 2022 CFL National Draft was a selection of National players by Canadian Football League (CFL) teams that took place on May 3, 2022, at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS. 74 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
