Anime
is Traditional animation, hand-drawn and computer animation, computer-generated animation originating from Japan. Outside of Japan and in English, ''anime'' refers specifically to animation produced in Japan. However, in Japan and in Japanese, (a term derived from a shortening of the English word ''animation'') describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin. Animation produced outside of Japan with similar style to Japanese animation is commonly referred to as anime-influenced animation. The earliest commercial Japanese animations date to 1917. A characteristic art style emerged in the 1960s with the works of cartoonist Osamu Tezuka and spread in following decades, developing a large domestic audience. Anime is distributed theatrically, through television broadcasts, Original video animation, directly to home media, and Original net animation, over the Internet. Osomatsu-kun
is a comedy manga series by Fujio Akatsuka which ran in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' magazine from 1962 to 1969. The series revolves around a group of sextuplet brothers who cause all sorts of mischief. It has been adapted into two different anime series of the same name, the first of which was produced by Studio Zero in 1966, and the second by Studio Pierrot in 1988. A new anime series by Pierrot, ''Mr. Osomatsu'', began airing in October 2015 to celebrate Akatsuka's 80th birthday, with a manga adaptation by Masako Shitara serialized in Shueisha's ''You'' magazine from January 2016. This series helped establish Akatsuka's reputation as a gag comic artist, long before his other popular manga, ''Tensai Bakabon,'' was released. Rainbow Sentai Robin
is an anime and manga created by Shotaro Ishinomori. It is the first anime to feature a 5-unit superhero team. While the animation was produced by Toei Animation (Toei Douga at the time), it was also technically produced by Ishinomori's studio, Studio Zero, that he founded with Fujiko F. Fujio and Shinichi Suzuki. The series was also broadcast in Germany, Spain, and France. Hayao Miyazaki was a key animator on episodes 34 and 38. It was announced by the Ishinomori website that a new Rainbow Sentai Robin graphic novel is to launch on Summer 2020. Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and other valuable goods. Harris No Kaze
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba, serialized in ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' in 1965. It was the first manga to be reprinted as a ''tankōbon'' in 1967 as part of the Kodansha Comics series. Plot The story follows Kunimatsu Ishida, a troublesome school boy who continuously gets expelled from schools for fighting other students. Robotan
is a Japanese anime and manga series created by Kenji Morita. The series revolves around household robot Robotan, who is created By Kan-chan and lives with an everyday Japanese family as a domestic servant and friend to the children. Like Doraemon, his good intentions don't always work out, with comic consequences. The original series was produced by Daiko Advertising. Production moved to Tokyo Movie Shinsha for the 20th-anniversary color remake ''New Robotan'' (1986) under director Masaharu Okuwaki. Leo The Lion (TV Series)
is a sequel to the Japanese anime television series ''Jungle Emperor'', or ''Kimba the White Lion''. Osamu Tezuka had always wanted his story of Kimba to follow Kimba's entire life, and the ''Jungle Emperor''/''Kimba'' series was such a hit in Japan that Tezuka produced a sequel, without his American partners, in 1966. An English dub of the series was first broadcast in the United States in 1984 on the CBN Cable Network (now Freeform). Making the series without a co-producer gave him complete creative control. For example, Tezuka changed the conclusion of his original manga story (represented in the last two episodes of this series) to a happy ending. ''Leo the Lion'' does not follow immediately from the end of the ''Kimba'' series. Instead, the story begins a couple of years following the end of the previous series.
