Yutaka Yokokura
is a Japanese pianist, keyboardist, kotoist, arranger and composer. He recorded three albums with GRP Records: ''Yutaka'' (1988), ''Brazasia'' (1990), and ''Another Sun'' (1993). He previously recorded an album, ''Love Light'', in 1978 by Alfa Records Japan. The album received an American release in 1981 on ALFA international America, with the title single, featuring a lead vocal by Patti Austin, reaching #81 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. He also recorded his cover version of Donny Hathaway Donny Edward Hathaway (October 1, 1945 – January 13, 1979) was an American soul singer, keyboardist, songwriter, and arranger whom ''Rolling Stone'' described as a "soul legend". Koto (musical Instrument)
The is a Japanese plucked half-tube zither instrument, and the national instrument of Japan. It is derived from the Chinese and , and similar to the Mongolian , the Korean and , the Vietnamese , the Sundanese and the Kazakhstan . Koto are roughly in length, and made from Paulownia wood (''Paulownia tomentosa'', known as ). GRP® Records (Grusin-Rosen Productions) is a jazz record label founded by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen (producer), Larry Rosen in 1978. Distributed by Verve Records, GRP® was originally known for its digital recordings that focuses on its jazz genre. History With Grusin and Rosen flourishing in their respective careers as a film composer, jazz musician, engineer and commercial music producer, a chance recording session for a commercial would set up what would become the seeds of their eventual partnership.
