Yusuf Emre Fırat (born 20 March 2000) is a Turkish Olympian cross-country skier. Early years Yusuf Emre Fırat was born in Kars, Turkey on 20 March 2000. Sports career Fırat performs cross-country skiing. He is a member of Kars Gençlik Sports Club. He participated in the sprint, 15 km freestyle and team sprint events at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival as well as at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019 and 2021. He won the gold medal at the Ski Running International FIS Competition held in Erzurum, Turkey. Kars
Kars (; ku, Qers; ) is a city in northeast Turkey and the capital of Kars Province. Its population is 73,836 in 2011. Kars was in the ancient region known as ''Chorzene'', (in Greek Χορζηνή) in classical historiography ( Strabo), part of Kingdom of Armenia (antiquity), in Ayrarat province, and later the capital of Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia in 929–961. Turkey competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. The Turkish team consisted of seven athletes (four men and three women) competing in four sports. Furkan Akar and Ayşenur Duman were the country's flagbearer during the opening ceremony. Meanwhile a volunteer was the flagbearer during the closing ceremony.
