''Egg'' ( tr, Yumurta) is a 2007 Turkish drama film directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu. The film is the first instalment of the ''Yusuf Trilogy'', named after the eponymous lead character of the series, which includes ''Milk'' and ''Honey'', filmed and released in reverse chronological order. It was shown Directors' Fortnight at the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Plot Poet Yusuf learns about the death of his mother Zehra and goes back to his hometown, Tire, where he had not been for years. In his mother's house, a young girl, his cousin Ayla, awaits him. Yusuf had not been aware of Ayla, who had been living with his mother for five years. Ayla conveys to Yusuf Zehra's pledge to sacrifice a lamb after her death and tells Yusuf that he has to carry out his mother's wishes. Gradually he succumbs to the memories in the house, and the rhythms of the town, its inhabitants, and the spaces filled with ghosts. 2007 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival
The 44th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival ( tr, 44. Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festivali) was held from October 19 to 28 2007 in Antalya, Turkey. Awards were presented in the 44th Antalya Golden Orange Festival in 20 categories of three competition divisions and in the 3rd Eurasia Film Festival in 4 categories. The award ceremony took place on October 28, 2007 at the Glass Pyramid Sabancı Congress and Exhibition Center in the downtown of Antalya. Gülçin Santırcıoğlu (born 1977) is a Turkish actress. Biography She was born in 1977 in İzmir. She took opera lessons at Dokuz Eylül University Conservatory School of Performing Arts. Semih Kaplanoğlu (born 4 April 1963) is a Turkish screenwriter, film director and producer. Life and career In 1984, Kaplanoğlu moved to Istanbul and worked for a couple of years as a copywriter for advertising companies like Güzel Sanatlar Saatchi & Saatchi and Young & Rubicam. He switched over to cinema in 1986 to become an assistant cameraman for two award-winning documentary films. The 60th Cannes Film Festival ran from 16 to 27 May 2007. The President of the Jury was British director Stephen Frears.
