İskenderun ( ar, الإسكندرونة, el, Αλεξανδρέττα "Little Alexandria"), historically known as Alexandretta and Scanderoon, is a city in Hatay Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Names The city was founded as Alexandria (Ἀλεξάνδρεια) to commemorate Alexander the Great’s victory over the Persian Darius III at Issus (Cilicia) in (333 BC). Starting in the Middle Ages, Western pilgrims used the diminutive Romance form Alexandretta. After the Muslim conquest of Syria, it was named ''al-ʼIskandarūn'' (Arabic الإسكندرون), the Arabic rendering of the original "Alexandrou"; this name was further turkified into Ottoman Turkish as İskenderūn (إسكندرون), which in turn was preserved in its current modern Turkish form as İskenderun. Kırmızı (Red) is a Turkish Anatolian heavy metal band founded in Istanbul in 2005 by Idil Çağatay and Aslı Polat. They have been seen to "cultivate an image of female power and strength". On 5 October 2011 they performed on the CNN International show ''Inside the Middle East''. Composition In March 2010 the line-up was reported as İdil Çağatay on vocals, Fulya Akgün on guitar, Aslı Polat on drums, and Başak Gün on bass. Handan Sultan ( ota, خندان سلطان meaning "smiling" in Persian; died 9 November 1605) was a consort of Sultan Mehmed III, and Valide Sultan to their son Sultan Ahmed I. Early life Of Bosnian origin, Handan Sultan was a servant in the household of Cerrah Mehmed Pasha, the Beylerbey of the Rumelia Eyalet. He was the husband of Gevherhan Sultan, daughter of Sultan Selim II, sister of Sultan Murad III, and aunt of Sultan Mehmed III. Mehmed Pasha was a surgeon ("cerrah") and had circumcised Prince Mehmed in 1582. As imperial consort In 1583, when Mehmed was appointed the sancak-bey of Saruhan, Handan being beautiful was presented to him at his departure by Mehmed Pasha and Gevherhan Sultan. ''Yalan Dünya'' ''(Fake World)'' is a Turkish TV series produced by Gülse Birsel and directed by Jale Atabey in 2012. Plot ''Yalan Dünya'' is about the lives of actors and actresses in Cihangir, Istanbul, an up-and-coming neighbourhood with a lot of bohemians and nouveau riche families. Two actresses move in together with of one of the actresses' brother, who befriends one of the main actors on the show, ''Fırat'ın Yazgısı''. They move in next door to a conservative family and frequently interact with them on the shared terrace of their apartment building. One of the main actresses falls in the love with the next-door family's single bachelor. Deniz, the main actress, and Riza fall in love. Riza's family is against there relationship; they have other plans for him with another woman.
