Yuma Sammang
Yuma Sammang is the goddess of the Limbu community of Nepal. The deity Yuma Sammang (literally: "Mother Earth" or "Grandmother") also known as Ningwaphuma is the most important and popular among Yakthungs (Limbus) and worshiped in all occasion. Yuma is regarded as the mother by Yakthungs. Yuma Samyo or Yuma religion was very popular during Yet Hang age and Thibong Yakthung (Ten Yakthung) age. After the Khas Aryan oppression in Yakthung laje (Limbuwan), and introduction of Hinduism from Indian mainland majority of Yakthungs had stopped following the Yuma religion for centuries. The Khas-Aryas also gave the term 'Kirata' to the tribes of the Himalayas (mostly eastern tribes). This has in time caused a false belief among sunuwars, yakhas, limbus and the 32 rai tribes that they are all a part of the same ethnic group. Limbu People
The Limbu (exonym) or Yakthung (endonym) are a Sino-Tibetan indigenous tribe (Bhot-Burmeli) of the Himalayan region of eastern Nepal, Sikkim, and western Bhutan. The original name of the Limbu is ''Yakthung'' () or ''Yakthum''. Limbu males are called ''Yakthungba'' or ''Yakthumba'' and Limbu females are called "Yakthumma" or "Yakthungma". Ancient texts state that "Yakthung" or "Yakthum" is a derivative of Yaksha and some interpret its meaning as the "Yaksha winner". In the Limbu language it means "heroes of the hills" (Yak - hills, thung or thum - heroes or mighty warriors), which connotates with the ancient Kiratis. Subba is a title given by the Shah Kings only to Limbu village chiefs. Subba was not an indigenous Yakthung terminology, but now the two terms are almost interchangeable. Limbuwan
Limbuwan is an area of the Himalayan region historically made up of 10 Limbu people, Limbu kingdoms, now part of eastern Nepal. Limbuwan means "abode of the Limbus" or "Land of the Limbus". In modern times, a political movement in Nepal has developed which claims to territorial authority for a Limbuwan federal state in Nepal’s eastern borderland. On Jan 20, 2010, State Reconstruction Committee of Constituent Assembly passed a federal structure of 14 states supported by UCPNM and Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), UML. 14 proposed states in including Limbuwan State. Mundhum
The Mundhum (also known as ''Peylan'') is the ancient religious scripture and folk literature of the Limbu people. It is an ancient, indigenous religion of Nepal. Mundhum means "the power of great strength" in the Limbu language. The Mundhum covers many aspects of the ''yakthung'' (Limbu) culture, customs and traditions that were followed since before the rise of the Vedic civilisation in the Indian subcontinent. The Mundhum is organised into two parts: ''Thungsap'' and ''Peysap''. The Mundhum extends beyond religion, serving as a guide for culture, ritual and social values.
