Yulimar Rojas
Yulimar Rojas Rodríguez (Venezuelan ; also known as Yolimar Rojas; born 21 October 1995) is a Venezuelan athlete who holds the world record for women's triple jump, at . She is the current Olympic champion, a three-time World Champion ( 2017 London, 2019 Doha and 2022 Eugene), and three-time World Indoor Champion ( 2016 Portland, 2018 Birmingham and 2022 Belgrade); she is nicknamed – queen of the triple jump. Since 2014 she has held, and continued to beat, Venezuelan national records in triple jump and long jump. She is a recipient of the Venezuelan Order of José Félix Ribas – First Class. Raised in a deprived area of Venezuela, Rojas was successful in other sports as a teenager but struggled to practice due to lack of resources. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay. Pan American Games
The Pan American Games (also known colloquially as the Pan Am Games) is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships – Women's Triple Jump
The women's triple jump at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships took place on 20 March 2022. Summary Kimberly Williams opened the competition with a season best 14.59m. Three jumpers later, Thea LaFond came close with a 14.53m. Then Yulimar Rojas made her first attempt, 15.19m. Game over. Only one other competitor had ever gone over 15 metres. The battle would be for the other medals. Those three jumps, from the first 5 attempts in the competition, held the medal positions until the last jump of the fifth round, when Rojas improved her hold on the lead to 15.36m. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's Triple Jump
The women's triple jump at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on 3 March 2018. Summary With 17 finalists, a qualifying round was barely avoided. In the competition, defending champion Yulimar Rojas took the lead as the first jumper down the runway with a 14.24m. Near the end of the round, Keturah Orji jumped 14.13m to take over second. Then two jumps later, Kimberly Williams took over the lead with a 14.37m. Williams improved upon that in her next two attempts taking the lead out to 14.48m. Rojas also improved to 14.36m. In the third round, Andreea Panturoiu moved past Orji with a 14.16m. At the end of the round Ana Peleteiro moved past Panturoiu with a 14.18m. In the fourth round, Panturoiu jumped her best of the day, 14.33m to move back into silver position only until Peleteiro jumped 14.40m on the next jump. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 17th IAAF World Indoor Championships was held from 1 to 4 March 2018 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This was the city's second hosting of the event as it previously did so in 2003. Bidding process Birmingham bid for the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships as well as the 2018 event. Portland was selected unanimously to host the 2016 event with Birmingham being the only other bidder. With Portland then out of the running for the 2018 event Birmingham was selected as the host of the 2018 event. The reason Portland was selected for 2016 and Birmingham for 2018 is that the IAAF wanted more time between events in the UK with London hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics as well as the 2017 World Championships in Athletics along with Cardiff hosting the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's Triple Jump
The women's triple jump at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 19, 2016. The first round of jumps were mostly disappointments to these 14 meter jumpers as Keturah Orji was the only one to break that barrier with 14.13. Four more athletes broke 14 in the second round, with Paraskevi Papachristou barely taking the lead with 14.15 and doing a dance to celebrate. The lead lasted barely 2 minutes before newcomer Yulimar Rojas popped 14.41. That jump stood up as the winner of the competition, neither Rojas or Panturoiu could find the board for the rest of their attempts. Kristin Gierisch edged into second place with a fourth round 14.16, then confirmed her silver medal with a 14.30 in the fifth round. The 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held between March 17 and 20, 2016 in Portland, Oregon, United States. The event did not feature Russia. Following a WADA investigation into widespread and institutional doping practices in Russian athletics, the IAAF provisionally suspended Russia's membership of the organisation in November 2015, effectively excluding the country both from hosting events and entering competitions. IAAF World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. 2022 Diamond League
The 2022 Diamond League was the thirteenth season of the Diamond League, an annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition was a revision to the top level sport of athletics, athletics series since the Diamond League was founded in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events was 32, and the dual-meet final format was due to be replaced by a single final, which would have expanded the number of meetings to 14. A second Chinese meeting was added to the calendar. The reduction of events was aimed at allowing a standardized 120-minute television format for the series. Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. The full sponsorship name is the Wanda Diamond League, the result of an agreement with Wanda Group that was announced in December 2019.
