Younès Moudrik
Younès Moudrik ( ar, يونس مدرك, born 1 October 1977) is a retired Moroccan long jumper. Early career He was born in Rabat. At the 1994 African Junior Championships he won the bronze medal in the long jump and the gold medal in the high jump. His lifetime best in the latter event remained 2.12 metres, achieved in Algiers in July 1994. He finished eighth at the 1996 World Junior Championships, and also competed at the 1994 World Junior Championships, the 1997 World Indoor Championships and the 1997 World Championships without reaching the final. His personal best evolved from 7.55 metres in 1994 to 7.76 in 1995 and 7.80 in 1996, both achieved in Meknes. In 1997 he broke the 8-metre barrier when he jumped 8.11 metres in Beirut. This earned him the gold medal at the 1997 Pan Arab Games. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. Mehdi El Ghazouani ( ar, المهدي الغزواني, born 30 March 1976) is a retired Moroccan long jumper. He won the silver medal at the 1995 African Junior Championships, and the bronze medal at the 2000 African Championships behind compatriot Younès Moudrik and Egyptian Hatem Mersal. He also competed at the 2000 Olympic Games without reaching the final. He became Moroccan long jump champion in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000. He also became triple jump champion in 1996 as well as 100 and 200 metres double champion in 1997. The 9th IAAF World Cup in Athletics was an international track and field sporting event sponsored by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was hosted by Madrid, September 21–22, 2002, in the Estadio La Peineta. The IAAF world cup event is currently held every four years. The 2001 IAAF Grand Prix Final was the seventeenth edition of the season-ending competition for the IAAF Grand Prix track and field circuit, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held on 9 September at the Olympic Park Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. It was the first and only time that the event was held in the southern hemisphere (international track and field seasons typically revolve around a northern hemisphere schedule). André Bucher (800 metres) and Violeta Szekely (1500 metres) were the overall points winners of the tournament. A total of 19 athletics events were contested, nine for men and ten for women. The men's long jump event at the 2000 Summer Olympics took place on Monday, 25 September, and Thursday, 28 September 2000, in Sydney, Australia. Fifty-three athletes from 38 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Iván Pedroso of Cuba, the nation's first medal and title in the men's long jump; it snapped a four-Games streak of American (and, specifically, Carl Lewis) victories.
