''Southside'' is the second studio album by American singer Sam Hunt. It was released through MCA Nashville on April 3, 2020. It was slated to be supported by the Southside Summer Tour 2020, which would have featured guests Kip Moore, Travis Denning, Brandi Cyrus, and Ernest, and was set to begin in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 28, 2020, but canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Background Following the success of Hunt's debut album ''Montevallo'', released in 2014, Hunt sporadically released several singles while delaying his second studio album. Sam Lowry Hunt (born December 8, 1984) is an American singer and songwriter. Born in Cedartown, Georgia, Hunt played football in his high school and college years and once attempted to pursue a professional sports career before signing with MCA Nashville in 2014. Prior to his successful solo career, Hunt was credited for writing singles for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Billy Currington, and Reba McEntire. "Drinkin' Too Much" is a song recorded by American country singer Sam Hunt. He co-wrote the track with Shane McAnally, Stuart Hine, and producer Zach Crowell. It was included on his 2020 studio album ''Southside''. Background and release Hunt wrote the song as an apology to his former on-and-off girlfriend, and later wife, Hannah Lee Fowler. He said he struggled with deciding on whether to release the song or not due to its extremely personal nature, and that releasing "Drinkin' Too Much" made it "a lot easier to put out songs that are more honest".
