Young Kay
Francis Kaphuka or Young Kay (born June 11, 1986) is a popular Malawian hip-hop artist that is known for fusing local Malawian folk songs with international genres. He is known for his vibrant sound and ability to mix Chichewa and English lyrics eloquently in his rhymes. This has earned him recognition as one of Malawi's best lyricists. He has been voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice Joy FM fans and in 2021 was crowned King of Malawian Hiphop by the audience of one of Malawi's biggest online platforms, Mikozi Networks. He was introduced to Malawian audiences under Rush records with the single “I’m Home” and his popularity grew to solidify his place as one of Malawi's greatest hip-hop artists. He has had subsequent hits since then. His song “zipepese” number 2 on FM 101 Power’s urban music chart. Gwamba
Duncan Zgambo (born November 4, 1990), professionally known as Gwamba, is a Malawi-born Rapper and Philanthropist. Early life Gwamba is the youngest of four siblings. He spent most of his childhood in area 18, Lilongwe. In 2005 he and 3 friends formed a rap grouped called the Pittie Boys, before he started his solo career in 2009. Music career Gwamba's rap career was inspired by US rapper 50 Cent and local musician The Basement. He released a single with the Pittie Boiz called "Work That Thing" , which got airplay on FM 101 radio's Gowelo Beatz in 2008. Limbani Kalilani (born 15 June 1984) is a Malawian hip hop artist better known by his stage name Tay Grin. In 2009 Tay Grin founded an Entertainment & Event Promotion company, which helps to promote events across Malawi. The company is known as Black Rhyno Entertainment. In 2014, Grin won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) award for Best International African Act. In 2016, he won the BEFFTA Star Award in the music category. He has performed at the annual Lake of Stars Music Festival. He also won the 2016 WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards Best Traditional Video award, with the Video Chipapapa featuring 2baba. Armstrong Kalua (born April 29, 1990), professionally known as Onesimus Muzik, is a Malawi-born Afropop singer and songwriter. Early life Onesimus AKA African Butter started singing at the age of 13. His love for singing grew as he performed at different concerts around his community in Malawi. Angela Mizinga (known as Empress Tigris or simply Tigris) is a Malawian singer/rapper from Ntcheu, Malawi. Early life Mizinga was born on 14 May to Mr and Mrs T.J. Maskal, born Masiye Kalso Kasaru on November 20, 1985, is a Malawian Afro-R&B singer from Ntcheu. His most popular song is "Udalire". He was nominated in two categories at the Malawian Music Awards (MMA) 2011 – "Best Male" and "Best R&B". He won Best Male Vocal for the MMA 2011.
