Maskal (singer)
Maskal, born Masiye Kalso Kasaru on November 20, 1985, is a Malawian Afro-R&B singer from Ntcheu. His most popular song is "Udalire". He was nominated in two categories at the Malawian Music Awards (MMA) 2011 – "Best Male" and "Best R&B". He won Best Male Vocal for the MMA 2011. Career Early career He has a diploma in Information Systems from Polytecnic and worked as an IT officer for the Blantyre Malaria Project. Music career He wrote his first song in February 2001. He made his debut on Young Kay's songs, "Utawaleza", "Photobook", and "Mamvelamvela". He was picked up by music promoter Nde'feyo Entertainment. Since launching his career he has collaborated on songs like "Malawi Goodlife" with Lucius Banda, Black Missionaries, Young Kay and Tigris. He released his first album "Nthawi" in 2010. Francis Kaphuka or Young Kay (born June 11, 1986) is a popular Malawian hip-hop artist that is known for fusing local Malawian folk songs with international genres. He is known for his vibrant sound and ability to mix Chichewa and English lyrics eloquently in his rhymes. This has earned him recognition as one of Malawi's best lyricists. He has been voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice Joy FM fans and in 2021 was crowned King of Malawian Hiphop by the audience of one of Malawi's biggest online platforms, Mikozi Networks. Lucius Chicco Banda (born 17 August 1970), better known by his stage name Soldier Lucius Banda, is a Malawian singer-songwriter, music producer and politician from Balaka, Malawi. Music career Lucius Banda was born on 17 August 1970 in Sosola Village in Group Village headman Kapalamula and Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District of Southern Malawi. His music career started in 1983 when he was 13 years old when he started singing with his brother Paul Banda and leader of Alleluya Band. Black Missionaries are a popular reggae band from the Malawi. The band is primarily active in the city of Blantyre, and members reside in Chileka. Angela Mizinga (known as Empress Tigris or simply Tigris) is a Malawian singer/rapper from Ntcheu, Malawi. Early life Mizinga was born on 14 May to Mr and Mrs T.J. Mizinga as the last born of 10 children, in Ntcheu District. Tigris is not a signed artist, but already has a fan base across Africa and beyond, thanks to the performance she had this year at the Big Brother Amplified Eviction show on 12 June 2011, which gave her exposure to millions. Big Brother Africa
''Big Brother Africa'' is the African version of the international reality television franchise ''Big Brother'' created by producer John de Mol in 1997. The show was first aired in 2003 for one season on M-Net and broadcast to audiences in 42 African countries. In 2007, the show was back from four-year hiatus, until it got cancelled after season nine in 2014. The African version initially involved 12 countries within Africa (Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe) with two countries (Ethiopia and Mozambique) being added in season 4 and two other countries (Liberia and Sierra Leone) being added in season 7 while Rwanda was added in season 9.
