2003 Greatest Hits Albums
3 (three) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 2 and preceding 4, and is the smallest odd prime number and the only prime preceding a square number. It has religious or cultural significance in many societies. Evolution of the Arabic digit The use of three lines to denote the number 3 occurred in many writing systems, including some (like Roman and Chinese numerals) that are still in use. That was also the original representation of 3 in the Brahmic (Indian) numerical notation, its earliest forms aligned vertically. However, during the Gupta Empire the sign was modified by the addition of a curve on each line. The Nāgarī script rotated the lines clockwise, so they appeared horizontally, and ended each line with a short downward stroke on the right. In cursive script, the three strokes were eventually connected to form a glyph resembling a with an additional stroke at the bottom: ३. The Indian digits spread to the Caliphate in the 9th ...

Jungle Love (Steve Miller Band Song)
"Jungle Love" is a 1977 song by the Steve Miller Band, featured on the album '' Book of Dreams''. It was written by Lonnie Turner (longtime bass player for the Steve Miller Band) and Greg Douglass (a well-known San Francisco sideman who also played with Hot Tuna and Greg Kihn, among many others). Jay Allen Sanford"Rock On and On" ''San Diego Reader'', June 4, 2008. It reached on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. According to Greg Douglass, Turner and Douglass originally wrote the song for Dave Mason. Turner gave a demo of the record to Miller, who liked it, and the Steve Miller Band (with Douglass playing guitar) recorded it in 30 minutes on the last day of recording for ''Book of Dreams''. '' Cash Box'' called it "a hard-rocking, energetic tune" and said that "the vocal here is delivered with a shout, but carefully orchestrated instruments, especially the organ, make a clear statement of each melodic hook." Jet Airliner (Steve Miller Band Song)
"Jet Airliner" is a song composed by Paul Pena in 1973 and popularized by the Steve Miller Band in 1977. Pena wrote and recorded "Jet Airliner" in 1973 for his ''New Train'' album. However, ''New Train'' was not released until 2000, due to conflicts between him and his label. Steve Miller heard Pena's unreleased ''New Train'' album through Ben Sidran, who produced it, and who was formerly in Miller's band. Miller recorded "Jet Airliner" in 1975 during sessions for the '' Fly Like an Eagle'' album, but the song was not issued until 1977, when it was released as a single and was included on Miller's '' Book of Dreams'' album. The lyrics of the Steve Miller Band version are slightly different from the Pena original. Miller's performance of the main riff also is slightly different from Pena's original, which has a more funky edge to it. The song is also notable for an early reference to the catchphrase "keep on keepin' on", also found in John Lennon's 1974 song "Old Dirt Road" and ...

An earlier 1973 version features a more bluesy and less funk-inspired rhythm, with the guitar taking the synthesizer parts (albeit with similar delay effects). The lyrics are slightly different, indicating that the place the eagle wants to fly away from is a Native American reservation. The final, funk-insp ...

Radio Edit
In music, a radio edit or radio mix is a modification, typically truncated or censored, intended to make a song more suitable for airplay, whether it be adjusted for length, profanity, subject matter, instrumentation, or form. Radio edits may also be used for commercial single versions, which may be denoted as the ''7" version'', as opposed to the '' 12" version'' which are extended versions of a song. Not all "radio edit" tracks are played on radio. Editing for time Radio edits often shorten a long song in order to make it more commercially viable for radio stations. The normal length for songs played on the radio is between 3 and 5 minutes. The amount of cut content differs however, ranging from a few seconds to effectively half of a song being cut. It is common for radio edits to have shortened intros and/or outros. In the intro, any kind of musical buildup is removed, or, if there is no such build-up, an extensive intro is often halved. In the outro, occasionally, the song wil ...

Abracadabra (Steve Miller Band Song)
"Abracadabra" is a song by American rock group Steve Miller Band, written by Steve Miller. The song was released as the first single from the 1982 album of the same name the same year. Origins The song is said to have been inspired by the American singer Diana Ross, whom Miller had met when they each performed on the same episode of the pop music television show '' Hullabaloo'' in the 1960s. The lyrics "Round and round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows" are a reference to the spinning wheel segment from ''The Original Amateur Hour''. Speaking on ''The Howard Stern Show'' in June 2016, Miller said at first his record company Capitol Records did not see the potential hit it would become. "Capitol didn't believe in it and didn't want to release it. I had a different deal with Phonogram in Europe. When it came out in Europe, I cancelled my American tour because it was everywhere in the world, except the States." After seeing its success overseas, Capitol released it ...
