Young Fabians Health Network
The Young Fabians Health Network is a special interest group of the youth section of the Fabian Society. About The aim of the Young Fabians Health Network is to connect professionals, academics and policy makers in the health and social care sectors. Providing a forum for policy orientated debate and discussion feeding into wider Young Fabian thinking. The network organises an annual programme of policy round-tables, publications, panel events involving public figures from the world of health and social care. History The Young Fabian Health Network was formed in November 2011 founded by Dr Martin Edobor. In February 2012 the Health Network was officially launched by former Young Fabian Chair, Sara Ibrahim with a keynote address from Maureen Donnelly former chair of Cambridgeshire primary care trust at University College London. Think Tank Subgroup
In their most common sense, the terms thought and thinking refer to conscious cognitive processes that can happen independently of sensory stimulation. Their most paradigmatic forms are judging, reasoning, concept formation, problem solving, and deliberation. But other mental processes, like considering an idea, memory, or imagination, are also often included. These processes can happen internally independent of the sensory organs, unlike perception. But when understood in the widest sense, any mental event may be understood as a form of thinking, including perception and unconscious mental processes. In a slightly different sense, the term ''thought'' refers not to the mental processes themselves but to mental states or systems of ideas brought about by these processes. Petty France is a street in the City of Westminster in central London, linking Buckingham Gate with Broadway and Queen Anne's Gate. Young Fabians
The Young Fabians is the under age 31 section of the Fabian Society, a socialist society in the United Kingdom that is affiliated to the Labour Party. The Young Fabians operate as a membership-driven think tank that organises policy debates, research projects, publications, conferences, and international delegations. The organisation holds no collective position on policy. History The Fabian Society was founded by a group of young idealists in the late 19th century. For example, H. G. Wells was 27 when he joined the committee as was George Bernard Shaw. However, by the middle of the 20th century, the average age of active members was relatively elderly. In order to encourage more young people to join the society, a Young Fabian Group was proposed. Fabian Society
The Fabian Society is a British socialist organisation whose purpose is to advance the principles of social democracy and democratic socialism via gradualist and reformist effort in democracies, rather than by revolutionary overthrow. The Fabian Society was also historically related to radicalism, a left-wing liberal tradition. As one of the founding organisations of the Labour Representation Committee in 1900, and as an important influence upon the Labour Party which grew from it, the Fabian Society has had a powerful influence on British politics. Members of the Fabian Society have included political leaders from other countries, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, who adopted Fabian principles as part of their own political ideologies. Sara Ibrahim
Sara Ibrahim (born 8 May 1983) is a former Chair of the Young Fabians (2011–2012), Barrister and British Labour Party activist. Background Sara Ibrahim gained a Bachelor of Arts in History at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. She was later called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn. In 2011 she was elected National Chair of the Young Fabians. She was a member of the Young Fabians Executive for five consecutive terms 2008-2012 and held roles including Vice Chair in 2010/11 and Chair in 2011/12. As Chair she oversaw the expansion of the Young Fabian Networks, with the formation of the Health Network and in November 2011 published the Young Fabian Pamphlet, Ambitions for Britain's Future. Andy Burnham
Andrew Murray Burnham (born 7 January 1970) is a British politician who has served as Mayor of Greater Manchester since 2017. He served in Gordon Brown's Cabinet as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2007 to 2008, Culture Secretary from 2008 to 2009 and Health Secretary from 2009 to 2010. A member of the Labour Party, he served as Shadow Home Secretary from 2015 to 2016 and was Member of Parliament (MP) for Leigh from 2001 to 2017. Sonia Adesara
Sonia Adesara (born 1990) is a British medical doctor and activist who specialises in reproductive health. She is campaigner for migrants rights and gender equality. She co-chairs the Young Medical Women International Association, and sits on the Central Council of the Socialist Health Association. Early life and education Adesara is the daughter of an Asian-Ugandan refugee. She studied medicine at the University of Nottingham. Career Adesara is a medical doctor. She is co-Chair of the Young Medical Women International Association, and a National Medical Director's Clinical Fellow at Macmillan.
