Young Fabians
The Young Fabians is the under age 31 section of the Fabian Society, a socialist society in the United Kingdom that is affiliated to the Labour Party. The Young Fabians operate as a membership-driven think tank that organises policy debates, research projects, publications, conferences, and international delegations. The organisation holds no collective position on policy. History The Fabian Society was founded by a group of young idealists in the late 19th century. For example, H. G. Wells was 27 when he joined the committee as was George Bernard Shaw. However, by the middle of the 20th century, the average age of active members was relatively elderly. In order to encourage more young people to join the society, a Young Fabian Group was proposed. Brian Lapping
Brian Michael Lapping CBE (born 13 September 1937) is an English journalist, television producer and historian. Lapping is also the chairman and founding member of Brook Lapping, a television and radio production company focussed on the production of historical documentaries. Lapping began his career as a journalist working for The Daily Mirror, The Guardian and the Financial Times, before moving to producing documentaries, first for Granada Television, then for his own production studio Brian Lapping Associates. In 1997, Brian Lapping Associates merged with Brook Associates to form Brook Lapping Productions. Tom Watson (Labour Politician)
Thomas Anthony Watson, Baron Watson of Wyre Forest (born 8 January 1967) is a British former politician who served as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party from 2015 to 2019 and Shadow Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from 2016 to 2019. Lorna Fitzsimons (born 6 August 1967, Littleborough, Lancashire) is a British business and public sector executive. She was the Labour Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Rochdale from 1997 to 2005. Oona Tamsyn King, Baroness King of Bow (born 22 October 1967) is a business executive and former British Labour Party politician. Philip James Woolas (born 11 December 1959) is a British environmental consultant, political lobbyist and former television producer and politician who served as Minister of State for Borders and Immigration from 2008 to 2010. A member of the Labour Party, he was Member of Parliament (MP) for Oldham East and Saddleworth from 1997 to 2010. Prior to being elected at the 1997 general election, Woolas was president of the National Union of Students (NUS), a producer for BBC programme ''Newsnight'' and a trade unionist at the GMB trade union. John Mann, Baron Mann (born 10 January 1960) is a British independent politician who serves as an advisor to the Government on Antisemitism, sitting as a Member of the House of Lords. Stephen Twigg
Stephen Twigg (born 25 December 1966) is a British Labour Co-op politician who was Member of Parliament for Enfield Southgate from 1997 to 2005, and for Liverpool West Derby from 2010 to 2019. He came to national prominence in 1997 by winning the seat of Defence Secretary Michael Portillo. Twigg was made the Minister of State for School Standards in 2004, a job he held until he lost his seat in 2005.
