"You Wanted More" is a song by Los Angeles band Tonic that originally appeared in the 1999 film '' American Pie''. It was released on June 7, 1999, and was also featured on Tonic's second album, ''Sugar'', released later in the year. The single peaked at number three on the US ''Billboard'' Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and reached the same position on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, as well as on the Canadian ''RPM'' Rock Report. Lyrics The lyrics include many lines beginning with "Love is": "Love is tragic", "love is strong", "love is surely better when it's gone", etc. The chorus expresses that the singer's love interest was too demanding: "'Cause you wanted more/More than I could give/More than I could handle/In a life that I can't live". Tonic (band)
Tonic is an American rock band, formed in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Later members have included Dan Lavery, Kevin Shepard, and Dan Rothchild. Signed to a recording contract in 1995, the band released its debut album ''Lemon Parade'' in 1996. The single "If You Could Only See" reached No. 11 on the ''Billboard'' Airplay Hot 100 in 1997, and ''Lemon Parade'' itself reached Music recording sales certification, platinum status. Tonic spent much of the next two years touring, adding to its reputation as a relentlessly gigging band. In addition to extensive touring Tonic produced other work, including songs for feature film soundtracks. Gavin Report
The ''Gavin Report'' was a San Francisco-based radio industry trade publication. The publication was founded by radio performer Bill Gavin in 1958. Its Top 40 listings were used for many years by programmers to decide content of programs. The publication was also responsible for running the Gavin Seminar, a convention for radio industry members. In February 2002, United Business Media, who had owned the Gavin Report since 1992, decided to close the publication.
