Yosyf Holovach
Yosyf Holovach ( uk, Йосиф Головач; 11 August 1924 – 18 June 2000) was a Ruthenian Greek Catholic hierarch. He was an auxiliary bishop of the Ruthenian Catholic Eparchy of Mukacheve from 1983 to 2000 as titular bishop of Sozopolis in Haemimonto (from 1991). Born in Imstychovo, Czechoslovakia (present day – Ukraine) in 1924, he was ordained a priest on 14 September 1947 by Blessed Bishop Theodore Romzha for the Ruthenian Catholic Eparchy of Mukacheve. He served as married parish priest in village Yarok from 1947 to 1949, until the Communist regime abolished the Greek-Catholic Church. Fr. Holovach continued to serve in the time of persecutions and on 15 March 1983 was consecrated to the Episcopate as auxiliary bishop. The principal consecrator was clandestine bishop Alexander Chira. Ruthenian Catholic Eparchy Of Mukacheve
The Greek Catholic Eparchy of Mukachevo is an eparchy (diocese) associated with the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church under an unidentified status and territory located in the west of Ukraine, roughly equivalent with Zakarpatska Oblast. The eparchy was created by the Pope Clement XIV in 1771. The eparchy is in full communion with the Catholic Church. Its parishes observe the Byzantine Rite which is also celebrated by the majority of Orthodox Christians, and as provided for in the original terms of the Union of Uzhhorod. The eparchy is a mother eparchy of at least four modern metropoles, i.e., the Slovak Greek Catholic Church, the Romanian Greek Catholic Church, the Hungarian Greek Catholic Church, and the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh in the United States.Havrosh, O. Alexander Chira
Bishop Alexander Chira was a bishop of the Ruthenian Catholic Church. His immediate predecessor was Bishop Theodore G. Romzha. He is designated as a Confessor of the Faith. Personal information Chira was born January 17, 1897, in the village of Irhóc, Máramaros County (Vilhivci/Vilʹkhivtsi/Olkhovtsy). His death was in exile on May 26, 1983 in the city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan. Chira "was one of the many victims of the Soviet persecution of the Greek Catholic Church." While in a concentration camp in 1956, Chira clandestinely was appointed a bishop. Stephan Ackermann
Stephan Ackermann (born March 20, 1963) is a German bishop. He was elected by the Cathedral Chapter as Bishop of Trier in the Moselle area of Germany in 2009. Early life The son of Helmy and Hermann and the eldest of two children, Ackermann grew up in Nickenich. His father was a church books and souvenirs merchant and met his mother when she was working as a sales assistant in the Maria Laach Abbey gift shop. He has a sister named Bärbel and is the godfather of two of her children. Ackerman was educated at secondary school level in Andernach. Formation and Priesthood He entered the Trier priest seminary at the age of 18 and studied at the Gregorian and Sankt Georgen higher education ecclesiastical schools. Francis Carroll
Francis Patrick Carroll (born 9 September 1930), a retired Australian archbishop, was the fifth Roman Catholic Archbishop of CanberraGoulburn, serving between 1983 until his retirement in 2006. Prior to his election as archbishop, Carroll served as Bishop of Wagga Wagga between 1968 and 1983. Carroll served as president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference between 2000 and 2006. Sozopolis In Haemimonto
Sozopol ( bg, Созопол , el, Σωζόπολη, translit=Sozopoli) is an ancient seaside town located 35 km south of Burgas on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.
