York (album)
''York'' (originally titled ''NoYork!'') is the second studio album by American rapper Blu. The album was initially leaked during the Rock The Bells tour in August 2011, and officially released in 2013. Background Blu was still under contract with Sire/Warner Bros in 2011, but as the LA Times noted "the slashing collection of songs was nowhere near commercial enough to ever see major label release". A few weeks later, Barnes was released from his Sire/Warner Bros. contract, although demo copies were pressed. Later officially released through New World Color on March 26, 2013. The album was also released as a vinyl 4-LP set with three additional songs, "Jazmine", "Jazzmen" and "Ronald Morgan". While Blu is the featured artist he was found to be "tapping a cadre of California instrumental hip-hop luminaries (...) of the Los Angeles beat scene". Johnson Barnes III (born April 15, 1983), better known by his stage name Blu, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his group Blu & Exile and their debut album ''Below the Heavens'' (2007). He is a forefront member of the California-based collective, Dirty Science. Blu is also co-CEO of New World Color, a label through which he has released many of his projects. He is recognized for his collaboration albums between him and various producers such as Exile, Mainframe, Ta'Raach, Bombay, Damu the Fudgemunk, Madlib, Nottz, and Union Analogtronics. ''Site Anubis'' is an album by Paul Schütze and Phantom City, released in 1996 through Big Cat Records. It is a concept album in which urban catastrophe is caused by an 800-foot statue of the Egyptian god Anubis. Background and recording Though the album credits all songs as being written by Paul Schütze, Schütze has said that "None of it was written - it was all improvised." Tsunehisa Kimura (木村恒久, ''Kimura Tsunehisa''; 1928–2008) was a Japanese artist influential in graphic design. Style Kimura's photomontage imagine a surreal world of ongoing apocalypse and often showcase the encroachment of nature and natural phenomenon on man-made structures and the urban built environment. Lamont Jody Hawkins (born November 10, 1970), better known as U-God, is an American rapper and member of the hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan.
