Yolki
''Yolki'' (russian: Ёлки, meaning '' New Year Trees''), also known as ''Six Degrees of Celebration'', is a 2010 Russian comedy film directed by Timur Bekmambetov. As of 2021, eight films have been made in the series. It is the most successful non-animated film franchise in Russia. The films in the series represent a Russian tradition of the New Year's Movie where films that take place during the holiday season tap into the vein of hope, optimism, and possibility associated with New Year's in the Russian culture. Other examples include ''The Irony of Fate'' and ''The Irony of Fate 2'' (also directed by Bekmambetov). Typically such films are released in December, just before the start of the holidays in Russia. Ivan Andreyevich Urgant (russian: Ива́н Андре́евич У́ргант; born 16 April 1978) is a Russian television host, presenter, actor, musician and producer. His best known roles in film are Boris in the ''Yolki'' series and as Danila in ''Lucky Trouble''. Between 2012 and 2022 he has hosted ''Evening Urgant'', a late-night talk show, which was suspended in February 2022 after Urgant expressed his opposition to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to the 2008 and 2011 surveys, Urgant is Russia's most popular TV presenter. He is the chairman of the board of trustees of the Friends Charitable Foundation. Bazelevs is a US-based production company founded by Hollywood director and producer Timur Bekmambetov. The company has been producing films such as '' Night Watch'', '' Day Watch'', '' Wanted'', '' The Darkest Hour'', '' Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'' and ''Hardcore Henry''. The company was involved in producing the animated film '' 9'', which was nominated for Best Animated Film in 2010 at the Producers Guild of America Awards 2009. In the summer of 2010 in Moscow, they filmed the Russo-American projects '' The Darkest Hour'', in cooperation with 20th Century Fox, New Regency, Summit Entertainment and '' Kikoriki.
