Yola D'Avril
Yola d'Avril (8 April 1906 – 2 March 1984) was a French-American actress, who appeared in numerous productions between 1925 and 1953. She was also known as Yola Vermairion and Yola d'Avril Montiague. Biography d'Avril was born in Lille, France, and died in Port Hueneme, California as Yola d'Avril Montiague. During World War I, her family relocated to Paris. After her father died in 1923, she moved to Los Angeles. She appeared in MGM's adventure film, ''Tarzan and His Mate'' with Italian actor Paul Porcasi as her father, Monsieur Feronde. '' King of Jazz'' is a 1930 American pre-Code color musical film starring Paul Whiteman and his orchestra. The film title refers to Whiteman's popular cultural appellation. At the time the film was made, "jazz", to the general public, meant jazz-influenced syncopated dance music heard on phonograph records, on radio broadcasts, and in dance halls. In the 1920s Whiteman signed and featured white jazz musicians including Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang (both are seen and heard in the film), Bix Beiderbecke (who had left before filming began), Frank Trumbauer, and others. ''The Awakening'' (1928) is a feature film directed by Victor Fleming and starring Vilma Bánky. It was based on a story by Frances Marion. Plot In Alsace, which was under German occupation, shortly before the outbreak of the First World War.
