Yitzhak Gagula
Yitzhak Gagula ( he, יצחק גאגולה, born 1 January 1964) is a former Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Shas between 1999 and 2003. Biography Gagula was born Isaak Gagulashvili ( ka, ისააკ გაგულაშვილი) in the Georgian SSR in the Soviet Union and was educated at a yeshiva, Gagula made aliyah to Israel in 1972. For the 1999 Knesset elections he was placed 18th on the Shas list. Aryeh Makhlouf Deri (, ), also Arie Deri, Arye Deri, or Arieh Deri (born 17 February 1959), is an Israeli politician. He is one of the founders of the Shas political party, and has served as Israel's Minister of the Interior, Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee, Minister of the Economy and as a member in the Security Cabinet of Israel. In 1999, Deri was convicted of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, and given a three-year jail sentence. 1999 Israeli Legislative Election
Early general elections for both the Prime Minister and the Knesset were held in Israel on 17 May 1999 following a vote of no confidence in the government; the incumbent Likud Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ran for re-election.
