''Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK'' is the debut studio album by Icelandic band Múm. It was released on 23 December 1999 by TMT Entertainment. Critical reception and legacy Reviewing ''Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK'' for AllMusic, Tim DiGravina found the music "effortlessly timeless and thoroughly engrossing" and called the album "an unmitigated, accessible masterpiece." Matt LeMay of ''Pitchfork'' deemed it "one of the most deeply, purely emotionally affecting albums of the year." In 2005, Múm performed ''Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK'' live in its entirety as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties-curated Don't Look Back concert series. On 30 August 2019, Morr Music released a 20th anniversary remastered edition of the album, which included remixes and reinterpretations of the album's songs as bonus tracks. Múm
Múm (stylized in lowercase) () is an Icelandic indietronica band whose music is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. History The band was formed in 1997 by original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, who were joined by twin sisters Gyða and KristÃn Anna Valtýsdóttir. According to KristÃn, the band's name was not intended to mean anything. Gyða left the band to return to her studies after the release of ''Finally We Are No One''. In early 2006, KristÃn also left the band, although it was not officially announced until 23 November of that year. Don't Look Back (concert Series)
Don't Look Back was a yearly series of concerts in which London-based promoters All Tomorrow's Parties would ask artists and bands to play one of their seminal albums live in its entirety. The season started in London in 2005, and has since spread its wings further each year, appearing from 2006 onwards in America and Europe (ATP has hosted stages of Don't Look Back performances at Barcelona's Primavera Sound festival and the Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, Chicago), and in 2008 onwards in Australia. Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir (born 4 September 1982) is an Icelandic musician and composer. Sóley
Sóley Stefánsdóttir (born 20 October 1987), better known simply as Sóley, is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Career Sóley studied classical and jazz style piano as a child and later went to the Icelandic Art Academy to study composition to become a proficient pianist and guitarist. Although hailing from Iceland, she sings primarily in English both in her solo and group work. She became part of the seven-piece Icelandic indie-folk band, Seabear, in 2006. Volker Bertelmann (born 1966) is a German pianist and composer who mainly performs and records under the name Hauschka. He is best known for his compositions for prepared piano. Early life Volker Bertelmann was born in Kreuztal, Germany. He grew up in the village of Ferndorf in the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein, North Rhine-Westphalia. The fifth of six children, he discovered piano playing at the age of nine at church service. He began studying classical piano and continued taking lessons for the next ten years. The Kronos Quartet is an American string quartet based in San Francisco. It has been in existence with a rotating membership of musicians for almost 50 years. Michael Paradinas (born 26 September 1971), better known by his stage name μ-Ziq (pronounced "music" or mu-zik), is an English electronic musician from Wimbledon, London. KristÃn Anna Valtýsdóttir (born 5 January 1982), also known as KrÃa Brekkan, is an Icelandic vocalist and classically trained multi-instrumentalist. She is best known as a former frontwoman of múm, and later on for collaborating with former husband David Portner as Avey Tare & KrÃa Brekkan. Gyða Valtýsdóttir (born 5 January 1982) is an Icelandic musician and multi-instrumentalist and winner of the 2019 Nordic Council Music Prize. She was an original member of the experimental music group Múm and has released four full length solo albums, created music for films, installations, theater and dance.
