Yerablur
Yerablur ( hy, Եռաբլուր, translation=based on three hills) or Yerablur Military Pantheon is a military cemetery located on a hilltop in the outskirts of Yerevan, Armenia. Since 1988, Yerablur has become the burial place of Armenian soldiers who died during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. History On 26 May 1992, the status of the cemetery was approved by the order of the Government of Armenia. Layout It is located in the western part of Yerevan, on the Yerablur hill, to the right of the Yerevan—Etchmiadzin highway. The height of the hill is 951 m, and the area of the pantheon is 19.22 ha. On the left side of the entrance to Yerablur is the chapel, in front of which is the Museum of the Fallen Freedom Fighters, next to it is the monument commemorating the 39 soldiers of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, further is the monument to the missing Freedom Fighters. Holy Vartanants Martyrs Church
St. Vartanants Martyrs Church ( hy, Սրբոց Վարդանանց Նահատակաց եկեղեցի, Srbots Vardanants Nahatakats yekeghetsi) is the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Malatia-Sebastia District of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is located on the Yerablur hill, right of the Yerevan-Echmiadzin highway. On the day of Saint Vartanants, the Armenian Apostolic Church holds a liturgy in the church. The church is located next to the Yerablur Military Pantheon. Various Armenian officials visit the church to honor the memory of the fallen Armenian soldiers. He was the leader of an offshoot of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) in the 1980s and was a commander in the Armenian army in Nagorno-Karabakh fighting Azerbaijan during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in the early 1990s. Melkonian left the United States and arrived in Iran in 1978 during the beginning of the 1979 Revolution, taking part in demonstrations against the Shah. Following the collapse of the Shah's monarchy, he traveled to Lebanon during the height of the civil war and served in an Armenian militia group in the Beirut suburb of Bourj Hammoud. Vazgen Zaveni Sargsyan ( hy, Վազգեն Զավենի Սարգսյան, ; 5 March 1959 – 27 October 1999) was an Armenian military commander and politician. He was the first Defence Minister of Armenia from 1991 to 1992 and then from 1995 to 1999. He served as Armenia's Prime Minister from 11 June 1999 until his assassination on 27 October of that year. Andranik
Andranik Ozanian, commonly known as General Andranik or simply Andranik;. Also spelled Antranik or Antranig 25 February 186531 August 1927), was an Armenian military commander and statesman, the best known '' fedayi'' and a key figure of the Armenian national liberation movement. Sebouh Nersesian
Arshag Nersesian (; 1872–1940), better known by his nom de guerre Sebouh or General Sebouh (), was an Armenian military commander. He was the right-hand man of General Andranik Ozanian. Early life He was born in 1872 in Tomna (a village north of Bayburt, which is in modern-day Turkey) as Arshag Nersesian. He later took the pseudonym Sebouh. He became involved in Armenian revolutionary activities while as a youth. He received his education in Trebizond (prior to World War I, that Armenian community numbered 30,000) and showed early aptitude as a craftsman. Gurgen Margaryan
On 19 February 2004, Gurgen Margaryan ( hy, Գուրգեն Մարգարյան; 26 September 1978 – 19 February 2004), a lieutenant in the Armenian army, was murdered in Budapest, Hungary, by Ramil Safarov, a lieutenant in the Azerbaijani army. Sose Mayrig ( hy, Սօսէ Մայրիկ, 1868 – 1953), born Sose Vartanian, () was an Armenian female '' fedayee'', the wife of famous hajduk leader Aghbiur Serob. She was surnamed ''"mayrig"'' (mother) by Serop's hajduks for her bravery and maternal concern for Armenian youth. She participated in the many fedayee battles. In 1898, after the battle of Babshen, Sose and Serop fled to Sassoun. In 1899, along with her son, Serop and his brothers, she participated in the battle against Kurdish brigands: Serop, their sons and Serop's brothers were killed while Sose Mayrig was wounded.
