Gurbanmurad Nepesov
Yerablur ( hy, Եռաբլուր, translation=based on three hills) or Yerablur Military Pantheon is a military cemetery located on a hilltop in the outskirts of Yerevan, Armenia. Since 1988, Yerablur has become the burial place of Armenian soldiers who died during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. History On 26 May 1992, the status of the cemetery was approved by the order of the Government of Armenia. Layout It is located in the western part of Yerevan, on the Yerablur hill, to the right of the Yerevan—Vagharshapat, Etchmiadzin highway. The height of the hill is 951 m, and the area of the pantheon is 19.22 ha. On the left side of the entrance to Yerablur is the chapel, in front of which is the Museum of the Fallen Freedom Fighters, next to it is the monument commemorating the 39 soldiers of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, further is the monument to the missing Freedom Fighters. St. Vartanants Martyrs Church ( hy, Սրբոց Վարդանանց Նահատակաց եկեղեցի, Srbots Vardanants Nahatakats yekeghetsi) is the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Malatia-Sebastia District of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is located on the Yerablur hill, right of the Yerevan-Echmiadzin highway. On the day of Saint Vartanants, the Armenian Apostolic Church holds a liturgy in the church. Gourgen Mkrtich Yanikian ( hy, Գուրգէն Մկրտիչ Եանիկեան, December 24, 1895 – February 27, 1984) was an Armenian genocide survivor. He is best known for the assassination of two Turkish consular officials and open deniers of the Armenian genocide, Consul General Mehmet Baydar and Consul Bahadır Demir. The events took place in Santa Barbara, California in 1973.. Sentenced to life imprisonment, Yanikian was released on parole in January 1984. It is widely believed that Yanikian's act was the inspiration for the founding of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, the Armenian militant organization of the 1970s and 1980s which staged attacks on Turkish diplomats in an effort to obtain recognition and reparations for the genocide from the government of Turkey. Sebouh Nersesian
Arshag Nersesian (; 1872–1940), better known by his nom de guerre Sebouh or General Sebouh (), was an Armenian military commander. He was the right-hand man of General Andranik Ozanian. Early life He was born in 1872 in Tomna (a village north of Bayburt, which is in modern-day Turkey) as Arshag Nersesian. He later took the pseudonym Sebouh. He became involved in Armenian revolutionary activities while as a youth. He received his education in Trebizond (prior to World War I, that Armenian community numbered 30,000) and showed early aptitude as a craftsman. When he was twenty-years-old and working as a shoemaker in a village near Erzincan, his village was slaughtered by Turkish soldiers during the Hamidian massacres, however, he survived and swore to "kill every Turk he set his eyes on". On 19 February 2004, Gurgen Margaryan ( hy, Գուրգեն Մարգարյան; 26 September 1978 – 19 February 2004), a lieutenant in the Armenian army, was murdered in Budapest, Hungary, by Ramil Safarov, a lieutenant in the Azerbaijani army. In September 2013, a monument dedicated to Margaryan was unveiled in Yerevan. Education Margaryan was born in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
