Yello
Yello is a Swiss electronic music band, which formed in Zürich in 1979. For most of the band's history, Yello has been a duo consisting of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank; founding member Carlos Perón left in 1983. Their sound is often characterised by unusual music samples and a heavy reliance on rhythm, with Meier as vocalist and lyricist, and Blank providing the music. Among their best known singles are " Oh Yeah" (1985), which has appeared in many films and television shows including ''Ferris Bueller's Day Off'', '' The Secret of My Success'', ''Uncle Buck'' and ''The Simpsons''; and " The Race" (1988), which peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. The Race (Yello Song)
"The Race" is a song by Swiss electronic band Yello, released as the first single from their album ''Flag''. The single was initially released on 11 April 1988 via the Fontana label. Release history In 1988 the single was released in 7", 12" and CD formats throughout the world, and additionally as a cassette single in some places. The limited edition single contained a remix by Paul Dakeyne. The following year, the track was remixed again by Carl Segal and released as a couple of promotional-only 12" singles, coupled with Emilio Pasquez's versions of "Blazing Saddles". Carlos Perón
Carlos Perón (born 9 June 1952) is a Swiss musician. He was a founding member of the band Yello. Career Born in Zürich, Switzerland, his first solo album was ''Impersonator'' (1981). Perón founded the TRANCEONIC studio in Zürich together with Boris Blank. In this experimental studio the two developed what would later on become the famous Yello sound. In 1978 Perón and Boris Blank made a trip to the U.S. to sell their music to the U.S. music industry. They visited RCA in Los Angeles and the Residents' label Ralph Records in San Francisco. Dieter Meier (born 4 March 1945) is a Swiss industrialist, musician and conceptual artist. He is the frontman of the electronic music group Yello, which was co-founded (with ex-member Carlos Perón) by music producer Boris Blank.
