Yeliz Ay
Yeliz Ay (born November 9, 1977 in Ankara, Turkey) is a Turkish female racewalker. She studied at Süleyman Demirel University. She was the winner of the 5th Royal Leamington Spa EAA Race Walking Grand Prix in 2004, clocking 1:43.15. Ay was named the competition's best technical walker as well. She is the holder of the national records in 5000m walk (track), 10000m walk (track), 20000m walk (track), 10 km walk (road) and 20 km walk (road). Racewalking
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Referee, Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres race walk, 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). There are two racewalking distances contested at the Summer Olympics: the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and 50 kilometres race walk (men only). Both are held as road events. Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington (), is a spa town and civil parish in Warwickshire, England.
