Yekutiel Adam
Yekutiel "Kuti" Adam ( he, יקותיאל "קותי" אדם; November 3, 1927 – June 10, 1982) was an Israeli general and former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces. Biography He was born in Tel Aviv to Yehuda and Elisheva Adam (formerly Adamov). He was named after his grandfather, Yekutiel Ravayev, who was killed in combat defending Petah Tikva from Arabs in 1916. His family were Mountain Jews from the Caucasus region. At the age of 15, Yekutiel joined the Haganah. At 20, he became a commander. On May 1, 1948, he was one of the commanders who captured the Palestinian village Salame, to the south of Tel Aviv. He later joined an elite Haganah unit that conducted raids into enemy territory. In March, 1950, Adam married and built a house in Tel Aviv. Jekuthiel Berman (; 1825 – ) was a Russian Hebrew writer, who published a number of novellas in ''maskilic'' journals. Biography For over thirty years, Berman held a position in the employ of the railroad magnate Samuel Polyakov, and devoted part of his leisure to literary composition. Between 1870 and 1880 he lived in Tver and later in Moscow. A stroke of paralysis in 1887 rendered him incapable of continuing either his vocation or his literary efforts. Berman's first novel, ''Shenot ra'inu ra'ah'' ('The Years Wherein We Have Seen Evil'), which describes the life and sufferings of the Cantonists in the time of Emperor Nicholas I, appeared in the first volume of ''Ha-Melitz'' (1860). Another novel, ''Pesel Mikah'' ('The Graven Image of Micah'), appeared in the same periodical (1884). Yekutiel Gordon
Yekutiel ben Yehudah Leib Gordon ( he, יקותיאל גורדון; died after 1742) was a Kabbalist and physician from Vilna, and one of the main disciples of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto (1707–1746). As such, he was one of the main conduits of Luzzatto's teachings from Padua to Eastern Europe. Gordon came to Italy in order to study medicine at the University of Padua. It is there that he met Luzzatto, under whom he learned Torah and Kabbalah. He considered leaving his medical studies in order to dedicate himself to the study of Kabbalah; however, Luzzatto urged him not to; he insisted that his ''maggid'' or mystical teacher wished for Gordon to be successful in both areas. Gordon was thus unwittingly the initial source of publicity of Luzzatto's ''maggid'': he wrote an account to his teacher in Vilna, thus initiating much of the controversy that surrounded Luzzatto. Yekusiel Yehuda Teitelbaum (I)
Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Teitelbaum (1808–1883), known as the Yetev Lev (), was a Hasidic ''Rebbe'' in Austria-Hungary. Early life and education He was the son of Rabbi Elazar Nison Teitelbaum, rabbi of Drubitsh, who was the son of the '' Yismach Moshe'' (Moshe Teitelbaum). Career After his studies, Yekusiel Yehuda, also known by his Yiddish equivalent names as Zalman Leib, was appointed as the rabbi of Stropkov (1833). He moved to Ujhely (1841) and then to Drubitsh (1856). When the Jewish community in the city of Sighet, Hungary, was looking for a new rabbi, he was invited by the heads of the community and was appointed to that post in 1858. Yekusiel Yehuda (Zalmen Leib) Teitelbaum (1911 – 18 May 1944) was Chief Rabbi of Sighet/Máramarossziget from 1936–1940 (Romania), 1940–1944 (Hungary). Biography Teitelbaum was the eldest son of Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum (''Atzei Chaim'' – d. 1926) and a brother of Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum. He was born in Máramarossziget, Hungary in 1911. At the age of 14 he was a successor to a long chain of Uhel-Sziget Rebbe's. In his first marriage, he married Ruchel, daughter of his uncle Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum. Yekusiel Yehuda III Teitelbaum, known by the Yiddish colloquial name Rav Zalman Leib (born 23 December 1951),Arye Ehrlich. Malkhut shel Khesed'. Mishpacha, 13 December 2012 (p. 28). is one of two Grand Rebbes of Satmar, and the son of Grand Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, the late Rebbe of the Satmar Hasidim. He is the son-in-law of the previous Bistritzer Rebbe of Brooklyn. He is currently one of the two Grand Rebbes of Satmar, with his faction being based in central Satmar congregation in Williamsburg, and the Dean of a Satmar yeshiva in Queens. Yekutiel Gershoni
Yekutiel Gershoni ( he, יקותיאל גרשוני; 1943 – 14 July 2021) was an Israeli historian and paralympic champion. Gershoni was born in Rishon LeZion, Mandatory Palestine, in 1943. He began his military service in the Israel Defense Forces in 1961, and became an officer in the Combat Engineering Corps. In November 1969, while a Captain in the Engineering Corps, he was severely injured while trying to dismantle a mine operated from a distance, which exploded, severely injuring him. His arms had to be amputated, and his vision and hearing were also severely impaired. A year after his injury, Gershoni began studying Middle Eastern studies and African studies at Tel Aviv University. He completed with honors his two degrees and completed his PhD in 1982 from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
