Yegishe Melikyan ( hy, Եղիշե Մելիքյան, born on 13 August 1979 in Yerevan) is a retired Armenian football defender and manager. Career International Melikyan was a member of the Armenia national team, participated in 29 international matches since his debut in away Euro 2004 qualifying match against Greece on 16 October 2002. Coaching On 28 June, Melikyan was appointed as manager of Alashkert. On 7 January 2021, Melikyan was appointed as manager of FC Pyunik. Football Club Alashkert ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Ալաշկերտ), commonly known as Alashkert, is an Armenian football club based in the capital Yerevan, founded in 1990 in Martuni and after folding in 2000 re-founded in 2011. They currently play in the Armenian Premier League. The home stadium of the team is the Alashkert Stadium in Yerevan. The club headquarters are located on Saryan street 25, Yerevan. Although based in Yerevan they are in fact named after the historic Western Armenian town of Alashkert, now Eleşkirt in Eastern Turkey. The Armenia national football team has represented Armenia in international association football since 1992 after the country declared independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Prior to this, Armenian players had represented the Soviet Union national football team. 2021–22 Armenian Premier League
The 2021–22 Armenian Premier League, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա) for sponsorship reasons, was the 30th season of the league since its establishment. Season events On 9 July 2021, the Football Federation of Armenia announced that 10 teams would play in the 2021–22 season of the Armenian Premier League. BKMA Yerevan, Noravank and Sevan where all promoted to the Premier League and given licenses, replacing Gandzasar Kapan and Lori who'd previously withdrawn from the league the previous season, and Shirak who were relegated. On 1 December, the Football Federation of Armenia Disciplinary Committee voted in favor to remove Sevan from the Armenian Premier League after they failed to turn up for two games in a row, against Alashkert and BKMA Yerevan. The Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the top association football, football competition in Armenia. The VBET Armenian Cup ( hy, Հայաստանի Անկախության Գավաթ) is the main football cup competition of Armenia. In its original form as the Armenian Cup, it started in 1939, when Armenia was a republic of the Soviet Union. It served as a qualification tournament for the Soviet Cup, and it was not disputed by Armenian teams in the Soviet League pyramid. UEFA Euro 2004 Qualifying
Qualification for the 2004 UEFA European Championship took place between September 2002 and November 2003. Fifty teams were divided into ten groups, with each team playing the others in their group twice, once at home and once away.
