Year Of The Rabbit (ballet)
''Year of the Rabbit'' is a ballet choreographed by Justin Peck to music from Sufjan Stevens's album, ''Enjoy Your Rabbit''. The ballet premiered on October 5, 2012, at the David H. Koch Theater, danced by the New York City Ballet. Production Background Peck joined the New York City Ballet as a dancer in 2007. He made several ballets for the New York Choreographic Institute for several years. His first ballet for the New York City Ballet ''In Creases'', had a successful premiere in Saratoga Springs in July 2012, and ''Year of the Rabbit'', which premiered on October 5, 2012, was his first ballet to be performed in Manhattan. Justin Peck
Justin Peck (born September 8, 1987) is an American choreographer, director, and dancer associated with New York City Ballet, of which he was appointed Resident Choreographer in July 2014, being the second person in the history of the institution to hold this title. In 2018 he won the Tony Award for Best Choreography for his work on the third Broadway revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's '' Carousel''. Peck also choreographed the 2021 Steven Spielberg film ''West Side Story'', an adaptation of the musical. Early life Peck was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in San Diego, California. Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) is a ballet company based in Seattle, Washington, in the United States. It is said to have the highest per capita attendance in the United States, with 11,000 subscribers in 2004. Prix Benois De La Danse
The Benois de la Danse is a ballet competition held annually in Moscow. Founded by the International Dance Association in 1991, it takes place each year on or around April 29 and it's judged by a jury. The members of this jury change every year and it consists of only top ballet personages. Statuettes are given to the winners in the categories of lifelong achievement, ballerina, danseur, choreographer, composer and designer. The Benois de la Danse earns a cash prize of $1,000,000, as well as exceptional events occurring during the previous year on stages around the world. Robert Fairchild
Robert Fairchild (born June 9, 1987) is an American dancer and actor. He is best known for originating the role Jerry Mulligan in the musical ''An American in Paris'', and as Munkustrap in the 2019 film ''Cats''. He was a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. Early life Fairchild was raised in Salt Lake City. His mother is a dietitian and his father worked for Utah's wildlife resources. Teresa Reichlen
Teresa Reichlen (born ) is an American ballet dancer. She joined the New York City Ballet in 2001, was promoted to principal dancer in 2009, and retired in 2022. Early life Reichlen was born in Clifton, Virginia. She has three brothers. When she was three, her parents sent her to ballet classes. At age 10, she started training at Russell School of Ballet, in Northern Virginia. She is the first person from that academy accepted by the School of American Ballet, but she deferred for a year and then entered SAB in 1999, at age 15. During her deferral year, she attended a summer intensive session at the School of American Ballet and, afterward, stayed in New York City as a full-time student. Ashley Bouder (; born December 10, 1983) is an American ballet dancer who is currently a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. She also founded and currently runs her own project, The Ashley Bouder Project. Early life Ashley Bouder was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Janie Taylor
Janie Taylor (born ) is an American ballet dancer, ''répétiteur'' and costume designer. She joined New York City Ballet in 1998, was promoted to principal dancer in 2005 and left in 2014. She then started designing costumes and staging works by Justin Peck and Benjamin Millepied, before performing again as a member of the L.A. Dance Project. Houston Ballet
Houston Ballet, operated by Houston Ballet Foundation, is a professional ballet company based in Houston, Texas. The company, consisting of 59 dancers, produces over 85 performances per year. History Tatiana Semenova (1955–1967) Houston developed its style for professional ballet beginning in the 1930s, with Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
