Yarelys Barrios
Yarelys Barrios Castañeda (also ''Yarelis Barrios Castañeda''; born July 12, 1983, in Pinar del Río) is a discus thrower from Cuba. Career She won the ''Diamond Race'' in the women's discus throw of the IAAF Diamond League both in 2010 and in 2011. She won the 2012 Cuban National Championships with a personal best throw of 68.03 metres. Barrios finished the Olympic discus competition in 2008 in the second place, but was disqualified by the IOC on September 1, 2016, because of doping due to a sample reanalysis which resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance Acetazolamide. Barrios sold her Olympic silver medal on auction site, eBay, for unknown reasons, and it was bought for $11,000 (£9,000). Bislett Games
The Bislett Games is an annual track and field meeting at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. History The first international athletics meeting at Bislett was held in 1924. Until 1937 the competitions are known as "The American Meetings". Different organizers staged the meetings between 1947 and 1965 until the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve formed the Bislett Alliance. At this year Arne Haukvik founded the Bislett Games. He was a former politician and director of the meeting, who used to invite the athletes, sponsors and the press to his home for his traditional "strawberry party" the day before the event each year. He died of cancer in 2002 at age 76. The tradition however is continued. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Discus Throw
The women's discus throw at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 10–11 August. There were 6 automatic qualifiers for the final. It took 60.14 to get in. In the final Sandra Perković dominated from her first throw. Any of her three fair throws would have won the competition. Yarelys Barrios was a solid second place from her first throw, but she never improved. Meanwhile, Mélina Robert-Michon did improve, her third round throw putting her into second and her final throw more than a meter further to improve her own French national record set more than 11 years (and one daughter) earlier. The record throw was all the more remarkable due to the rainy conditions that hampered the rest of the field, hers was the only improvement after the rains started toward the end of the fourth round. The 2011 IAAF Diamond League (also known as the 2011 Samsung Diamond League for sponsorship purposes) was the second edition of the Diamond League, an annual series of fourteen one-day track and field meetings. The 2010 Diamond League season was the first season of the Diamond League, an annual series of fourteen one-day track and field meetings. The series began on 14 May in Doha, Qatar and ended on 27 August in Brussels, Belgium. Superseding the European-centred IAAF Golden League, the Diamond League was the IAAF's first intercontinental series of one-day track and field meetings.
