Kaohsiung Museum Of History
The Kaohsiung Museum of History () is a museum located in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is administered by the Kaohsiung City Government. History The building of the museum was originally the Kaohsiung City Hall. It was designed by Japanese architect Oono Yonezirou, working with the Shimizu Corporation under the Japanese government, and completed in 1939. After 1945, the city hall was renamed to Kaohsiung Municipal Government. On 18 January 1992, the municipal government moved to Union Office Building and the old building was turned into the Kaohsiung Museum of History which was opened on 25 October 1998. Architecture The building's architecture is an example of the Japanese Imperial Crown style. It was built with reinforced concrete for seismic resistance, as Taiwan is prone to earthquakes. Pier-2 Art Center
The Pier-2 Art Center () is an art center in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The arts center was originally an abandoned warehouse site due to Kaohsiung's shift from industrial city to service city. The warehouses were built in 1973. Due to the persistence of local artists, the area was finally released and remade to be an arts center. In 2006, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government and under management of the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Development Association and Shu-Te University's art development workshop took over the center, starting a series of exhibitions. On 9 March 2021 at 1:04 a.m., a fire broke out at one of the warehouse building of the center. The fire was extinguished two hours later which left the building with only its concrete walls and metal frames. Love River
The Love River or Ai River () is a river (canal) in southern Taiwan. It originates in Renwu District, Kaohsiung City, and flows through Kaohsiung to Kaohsiung Harbor. Love River is the spine of Kaohsiung, playing a similar role to the River Thames of London. It is of great cultural significance to the people of Kaohsiung and plays an important role in its economy and tourism. A riverside park, the Love River Park, runs along the riverbank in downtown Kaohsiung City. A night market operates in the park, and there are three outdoor cafés, often with live bands. Boats which hold about fifteen people take tourists up and down the river. The Kaohsiung Film Archive (KFA; ) is a movie center in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History Kaohsiung Film Archive was established in 2001. The building of Kaohsiung Film Archive was originally used as the campus building of Yancheng Junior High School and public service station of Kuomintang. International Convention Center Kaohsiung
The International Convention Center Kaohsiung (ICCK; ) is a convention center in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History In early 1991, Kaohsiung City Government started a plan to build a convention center in Yancheng District. In 2000, the construction of Kaohsiung Business Exhibition Center was completed. The center was run by a private sector from then until 13 March 2007. In May 2010, the city government took over the operation of the center. In January 2012, the Grand Conference Management Company was commissioned to operate and manage the center. In July 2012, the city government transformed the Kaohsiung Business Exhibition Center into the International Convention Center Kaohsiung. Major renovations were made including expanding the 6 conference rooms to 26. A total up to 200 tables for banquet style dining can now be accommodated on its first floor, as well as parking spaces for 500 cars. City Council (Former site) is a station on the Orange line of Kaohsiung MRT in Cianjin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Station overview The station is a two-level, underground station with an island platform and four exits. The station is 206 metres long and is located at the intersection of Jhongjheng 4th Rd and Jhonghua 3rd Rd. During the opening of the station, it was named "City Council." However, after the merging of Kaohsiung City and Kaohsiung County in 2010, the original Kaohsiung City Council was relocated to the original Kaohsiung County Council, located near Fongshan West metro station, so (Former site) was added to the end of the station name to avoid confusion.
