Yancheng District () is a District (Taiwan), district in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It is the smallest district in Kaohsiung City. It has been the least populous district of Kaohsiung since 2004. Yancheng District is also an old town of Kaohsiung. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. The Love Pier () is a pier along Love River in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The pier area used to be the No. 12 dock of the Republic of China Armed Forces. Circular Light Rail
The Circular light rail () is a light rail line in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, operated by Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation. The southern part of this line makes use of the defunct tracks of the Kaohsiung Harbor Railway Line. Construction cost was forecasted to be 16.5 billion New Taiwan dollars. Phase I consists of the section of the line from Station C1 to Station C14, of which Stations C3 and C14 are transfer stations to KMRT and , respectively. Construction of Phase I began on 4 June 2013. Stations C1 to C14 were open on a test-basis (free for the public) from August 2015, and commenced formal operations in September 2017. Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit
Kaohsiung Metro () is a rapid transit and light rail system covering the metropolitan area of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Its rapid transit network is known as Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit or Kaohsiung MRT. Construction of the MRT started in October 2001. The MRT opened in 2008 and the Circular light rail in 2015. Hamasen Museum Of Taiwan Railway
The Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway () is a railway museum in Pier-2 Art Center, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The museum building was originally constructed as a railway station. In 2003, the museum building was declared a historical building by the Kaohsiung City Government. On 9 November 2008, the last train departed from the station and soon later the station was closed down and the city government took over the ownership of the building. Pier-2 Art Center
The Pier-2 Art Center () is an art center in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The arts center was originally an abandoned warehouse site due to Kaohsiung's shift from industrial city to service city. The warehouses were built in 1973. Due to the persistence of local artists, the area was finally released and remade to be an arts center. In 2006, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government and under management of the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Development Association and Shu-Te University's art development workshop took over the center, starting a series of exhibitions. On 9 March 2021 at 1:04 a.m., a fire broke out at one of the warehouse building of the center. The fire was extinguished two hours later which left the building with only its concrete walls and metal frames. Love River
The Love River or Ai River () is a river (canal) in southern Taiwan. It originates in Renwu District, Kaohsiung City, and flows through Kaohsiung to Kaohsiung Harbor. Love River is the spine of Kaohsiung, playing a similar role to the River Thames of London. It is of great cultural significance to the people of Kaohsiung and plays an important role in its economy and tourism. A riverside park, the Love River Park, runs along the riverbank in downtown Kaohsiung City. A night market operates in the park, and there are three outdoor cafés, often with live bands. Boats which hold about fifteen people take tourists up and down the river. Kaohsiung Music Center
The Kaohsiung Music Center (KMC; ) is a music hall in Yancheng District and Lingya District in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History In 2009, the Executive Yuan recognized the need to establish a music center in Kaohsiung. The Council for Cultural Affairs then commissioned Kaohsiung City Government to plan, design, and construct the center. The center was officially opened on 31 October 2021 in a ceremony attended by President Tsai Ing-wen and Culture Minister Lee Yung-te. Kaohsiung Museum Of History
The Kaohsiung Museum of History () is a museum located in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is administered by the Kaohsiung City Government. History The building of the museum was originally the Kaohsiung City Hall. It was designed by Japanese architect Oono Yonezirou, working with the Shimizu Corporation under the Japanese government, and completed in 1939. After 1945, the city hall was renamed to Kaohsiung Municipal Government. On 18 January 1992, the municipal government moved to Union Office Building and the old building was turned into the Kaohsiung Museum of History which was opened on 25 October 1998.
