Yan Hong-sen
Yan Hong-sen (; born 12 February 1951) is a Taiwanese academic and politician. He was a Minister without Portfolio in the Executive Yuan from 2015 to 2016. Education Yan obtained his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in 1973. He then obtained his master's and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from University of Kentucky in 1977 and Purdue University in 1980, respectively. In order to understand the contents of ancient literature and the development of ancient machinery, he enrolled in the Chinese Department of Tunghai University Tunghai University (THU; ) is the oldest private university in Taiwan, established in 1955. Yan (surname)
Yan is a surname in several languages and the pinyin romanization for several Chinese surnames, including " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()", " ()" in simplified (traditional) form. These characters are romanised as ''Yen'' in the Wade–Giles romanization system which was commonly used before the early 80s. As such, individuals and institutions who had to romanize their Chinese names prior to that time, such as when having their books translated or publishing manuscripts outside of China, used "Yen" instead of "Yan". Changhua
Changhua (Hokkien POJ: ''Chiong-hòa'' or ''Chiang-hòa''), officially known as Changhua City, is a county-administered city and the county seat of Changhua County in Taiwan Province of the Republic of China. For many centuries the site was home to a settlement of Babuza people, a coastal tribe of Taiwanese aborigines. Changhua city is ranked first by population among county-administered cities. It is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area, which is the second largest in Taiwan. Historically, Changhua city was a base for the Han Chinese when they invaded Taiwan against the Taiwanese aborigines, constructing a fortress built out of bamboo. The Executive Yuan () is the executive branch of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Its leader is the Premier, who is appointed by the President of the Republic of China, and requires confirmation by the Legislative Yuan.
