Yusupha Njie
Yusupha Njie (born 1 March 1994) is a Gambian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Qatari club Al-Markhiya and the Gambia national team. He is the son of Biri Biri, who was widely regarded as the greatest Gambian footballer of all time. Early years Born in Banjul, Njie began his youth career at local club Wealers FC before switching to Cherno Samba's academy in 2004. In 2007, he was scouted for the national under-15 team; he traveled with them to compete in a cup competition in Norway. Two years later, he underwent a two-week trial with Norwegian club SK Brann, where his half-brother Tijan Jaiteh was playing at the time. Although he impressed team officials, he was not able to return at their request because of obligations with the national under-17 team, including the 2011 African U-17 Championship qualification tournament. ''The Daily Observer'' is a newspaper published in Bakau in Banjul, the Gambia. The paper, Gambia's first daily newspaper,Gabriel I. H. Williams, ''Liberia: the heart of darkness'', Trafford Publishing, 2002, p.333 was founded by Mae Gene and Kenneth Best in 1990. Kenneth Best had previously managed another paper called the ''Daily Observer'' in Liberia, until the First Liberian Civil War caused him to relocate with his family to the Gambia. In October 1994, following Yahya Jammeh's military coup, Best was expelled from Gambia, although the newspaper was allowed to continue. The 2017 CAF Confederation Cup qualifying rounds were played from 10 February to 22 April 2017. A total of 68 teams competed in the qualifying rounds to decide the 16 places in the group stage of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup. Draw The draw for the preliminary round and first round was held on 21 December 2016 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. The entry round of the 52 teams entered into the draw was determined by their performances in the CAF competitions for the previous five seasons (CAF 5-year ranking points shown in parentheses). The Moroccan Throne Cup or the Throne Cup is a football tournament sponsored by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and brings together Moroccan clubs who play on the knockout system until two teams reach the final match. Unlike the league championship in Morocco, which started in 1916 before Morocco gained independence from France and Spain, the cup competition was not organized until after independence, as the first season of this competition was in 1957.
