Yusuf Kurçenli
Yusuf Kurçenli (1947 – 22 February 2012) was a Turkish film director, producer and screenwriter. Kurçenli was born in Çayeli, Rize Province, Turkey. He studied journalism at Istanbul University. Between 1973 and 1980, he worked as a director and producer at TRT, the Turkish public television. His debut film was ''Ve Recep Ve Zehra Ve Ayşe'' in 1983. He followed that with many long features including the celebrated 1994 film ''Çözülmeler'' that won many awards at film festivals. He also directed ''Baba Evi'' and ''Kurşun Kalem''. His last film was ''Yüreğine Sor''. Çayeli
Çayeli ( lzz, მაფავრი, ) is a town and district of Rize Province on the Black Sea coast of eastern Turkey, 18 km east of the city of Rize. ''Çay'' means ''tea'' in Turkish and a large percentage of Turkey's tea is indeed grown in this lush green district. History Mapavri was long occupied by the Laz community, and was part of the Roman Empire and then the Empire of Trebizond until was brought within the Ottoman Empire by Mehmet II in 1461, although this coast has always been vulnerable to invaders from across the nearby Caucasus. In the recent past Çayeli was an impoverished remote region that saw successive generations migrate away to jobs in Turkey's larger cities or abroad. This emigration slowed when tea was planted here in the 1940s. Vefa High School Alumni
Vefa is part of the district of Fatih in Istanbul, and lies inside what was once the old walled city of Constantinople. It lies roughly northwest of the eastern section of the Aqueduct of Valens, and is rich in monuments, both Byzantine and Ottoman. It takes its name from the Muslim saint (wali) Shaykh Ebu’l Vefa who is buried locally in his own mosque and dergah. Vefa lies to the east of busy Atatürk Bulvari, the main road pushed through the old city by the French architect Henri Prost in the 1950s. Immediately to its north is the rundown area of Küçükpazarı while to the east is the Süleymaniye district around the huge Süleymaniye Mosque complex.
