Carlos Irizarry Yunqué
Carlos Juan Irizarry Yunqué (June 24, 1922 – May 23, 2015) was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Appointed by Gov. Rafael Hernandez Colon in 1973 he was succeeded in 1985 by the Court's first female Associate Justice, Miriam Naveira. Born on June 24, 1922, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, he obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Puerto Rico in 1943. Edgardo Vega Yunqué
Edgardo Vega Yunqué (May 20, 1936August 26, 2008) was a Puerto Rican novelist and short story writer, who also used the Americanized pen name Ed Vega. Early years Edgardo Vega Yunqué was born in Ponce, to Alberto Vega, a Baptist minister, and Abigail Yunqué, and lived in Cidra, Puerto Rico, until his family moved to the South Bronx in 1949. Even as a child he loved to read, and became familiar with many of the great European works. His seminal influences included Miguel de Cervantes, Azorín, Borges, Unamuno, Lope de Vega, Victor Hugo, and members of the Generation of '27 literary movement. Upon graduating from high school in 1954, he joined the United States Air Force. During his free time Vega focused on reading and analysis of American literature, after finding a large collection of books at his sister's house. El Yunque National Forest
El Yunque National Forest ( es, Bosque Nacional El Yunque), formerly known as the Caribbean National Forest (or ''Bosque Nacional del Caribe''), is a forest located in northeastern Puerto Rico. It is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System and the United States Forest Service. El Yunque National Forest is located on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo mountains, encompassing more than 28,000 acres (43.753 mi2 or 113.32 km2) of land, making it the largest block of public land in Puerto Rico. The highest mountain peaks in the forest rises above sea level. The second highest mountain within El Yunque forest is also named Pico El Yunque. Other peaks within the national forest are Pico del Este, Pico del Oeste, El Cacique and El Toro, which is the highest point in eastern Puerto Rico and the Sierra de Luquillo. The National Organization of the Anvil or simply ''El Yunque'' (in English language, English: The Anvil) is the name of an alleged conservative Mexican secret society, whose existence was first claimed by journalist Álvaro Delgado (journalist), Alvaro Delgado in 2003. Organization Delgado described ''The Anvil'' as "ultracatholic, anticommunist, antisemitic, antiliberal and with fascistic traits". He also claims that top members of National Action Party (Mexico), PAN and former President of Mexico, President Vicente Fox Quesada, Vicente Fox's cabinet are also members of El Yunque. El Yunque (Cuba)
El Yunque is a mountain located west of Baracoa and the Baracoa Bay in Cuba's Guantanamo Province. It has a Mesa, table mountain shape that resembles an anvil ("yunque" in Spanish). ''Paco Yunque'' is a children's story originally written in Spanish by Peruvian poet César Vallejo and first published (posthumously) in 1951. History The story draws on Vallejo's own life experience; for some months, Vallejo had tutored the son of a land owner in the Sierra de Pasco. Vallejo wrote ''Paco Yunque'' in April 1931, in response to a request from an editor that he write a children's story. Upon reading the story, the editor rejected it as "too sad"; the work was not published until 1951. It later became required reading in Peruvian schools. Juan Acevedo created a widely read comic-book version of the story. Synopsis Paco Yunque is the son of a poor Indian maid, who works for Dorian Grieve, an Englishman.
