Yunost Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Slonim, Belarus. It is mostly used for football matches and is a home stadium for FC Slonim Slonim-2017 is a Belarusian football club based in Slonim, Grodno Region. History The team was founded in 2013 as a result of merger between Beltransgaz Slonim and Kommunalnik Slonim. The new team is considered a successor to Beltransgaz. It .... History In the past the stadium was a home venue for now-defunct club Kommunalnik Slonim, as well as for Beltransgaz Slonim (who became FC Slonim after absorbing Kommunalnik). Between 1999 and 2002 the stadium was closed for renovation works. During that period Kommunalnik hosted its matches at the smaller Dinamo Stadium (capacity 1,200), which is currently in decaying state and only used for amateur and youth matches. Slonim ( be, Сло́нім, russian: Сло́ним, lt, Slanimas, lv, Sloņima, pl, Słonim, yi, סלאָנים, ''Slonim'') is a city in Grodno Region, Belarus, capital of the Slonimski rajon. It is located at the junction of the Ščara and Isa rivers, southeast of Hrodna. The population in 2015 was 49,739. Etymology and historical names Slonim has been known by several versions of its name: Сло́нім ( Belarusian), Słonim (Polish), Сло́ним (Russian). Slonim was first mentioned in chronicles in 1252 as Uslonim and in 1255 as Vslonim. According to one version (which is also considered to be an official one), the name of the city originates from the Slavic word 'zaslona' (a screen), meaning that the city used to be an outpost at the southern border of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. FC Kommunalnik Slonim was a Belarusian football club based in Slonim, Grodno Oblast. History The team was founded in 1969. During the Soviet era the club played in Grodno Oblast league or lower levels of Belarusian SSR league as ''Torpedo Slonim'' (1969–1971), ''Kommunalnik Slonim'' (1972–1986), ''Start Slonim'' (1972–1986) and ''Albertin Slonim'' (since 1989). In 1992, the team participated in the Belarusian Second League championship and won the promotion to the First League after finishing on the second place. In 1994, they were renamed to ''KPF Slonim'' and in 1996 to ''Kommunalnik Slonim''. Slonim-2017 is a Belarusian football club based in Slonim, Grodno Region. History The team was founded in 2013 as a result of merger between Beltransgaz Slonim and Kommunalnik Slonim.
