Cloud County (county code CD) is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 9,032. Its county seat and most populous city is Concordia. History Early history For many millennia, the Great Plains of North America was inhabited by nomadic Native Americans. From the 16th century to 18th century, the Kingdom of France claimed ownership of large parts of North America. In 1762, after the French and Indian War, France secretly ceded New France to Spain, per the Treaty of Fontainebleau. 19th century In 1802, Spain returned most of the land to France, but keeping title to about 7,500 square miles. In 1803, most of the land for modern day Kansas was acquired by the United States from France as part of the 828,000 square mile Louisiana Purchase for 2.83 cents per acre. K-28 (Kansas Highway)
K-28 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. K-28's western terminus is at K-14 in Jewell, and the eastern terminus is at K-9 west of Concordia. K-28 passes through the cities of Randall and Jamestown as well as the ghost town of Yuma. The highway also passes within of the Jamestown Wildlife Area, a popular hunting and fishing destination. The highway is a two-lane paved road its entire length. Before state highways were numbered in Kansas there were auto trails, the road that K-28 follows crosses the former Sunflower Trail at Randall. It also follows the former Kansas White Way from Jamestown to its eastern terminus. K-28 originally terminated at Nebraska Highway 78 (N-78) at the Nebraska border north of Burr Oak but was truncated to its current western terminus on February 8, 1996.
