Yuin Station
Yuin Station is a pastoral lease and sheep station located in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Situated approximately to the north-west of Yalgoo and northeast of Mullewa, the property occupies an area of and has a maximum carrying capacity of 15,370 sheep. The station was established in 1870 by Thomas Burges and was one of the first settlements in the area. In 1874 the Wittenooms moved 15,000 sheep from Bowes Station to Yuin. An outbreak of influenza wreaked havoc among the station employees in 1883. Sheep washing had just commenced at the station and the 25 crew members, all of whom were Aboriginal, were struck down, with several dying. Struck by drought between 1884 and 1886, the station had very little feed on the ground available for stock. In 1888, following two days of heavy rain, the Greenough River flooded, inundating most of the station's buildings with the exception of the shearing shed and the store, which was surrounded by a dirt embankment. ''The Argus'' was an Australian daily morning newspaper in Melbourne from 2 June 1846 to 19 January 1957, and was considered to be the general Australian newspaper of record for this period. Cyclone Clare
Severe Tropical Cyclone Clare was a moderately strong cyclone that struck Western Australia in January 2006. The storm formed as an area of low pressure in the Arafura Sea, and moved westward. After receiving the name Clare on 7 January, the system ultimately peaked at Category 3 intensity on the Australian tropical cyclone scale. It moved ashore on the coast of the Pilbara and proceeded inland, dissipating on 10 January. Clare produced winds of at Karratha and triggered widespread torrential rainfall that led to flooding. Following its usage, the name ''Clare'' was retired by the Bureau of Meteorology, and will never be used again for a tropical cyclone in the area. Glenorn
Glenorn is a pastoral lease that has operated as both a sheep and cattle station. It is located about south east of Leonora and north east of Kookynie in the Goldfields of Western Australia, The Laverton to Leonora railway passes through the property and had five of its stops being located within the station boundaries. Initially established by the Horan brothers, who were butchers, in about 1903, the station was running cattle along with a small flock of sheep. The Horans were the first to take up pastoral pursuits in the area, which was mostly a gold mining centre. They noted that the area was rich in mulga and saltbush year round with abundant natural grasses following rain. The property was carrying a flock of about 2,000 sheep in 1921. Sold by the Horan brothers before 1924, the station was bought by the Foulkes-Taylor brothers, E. L. Lefroy and L. Manning, who together formed the Mt. Malcolm Pastoral Company. Leonora, Western Australia
Leonora is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located northeast of the state capital, Perth, and north of the city of Kalgoorlie. History The first European explorer to visit the area was John Forrest in 1869. On 21 June 1869 Forrest's party made camp near a conspicuous hill, which Forrest named Mount Leonora, after his six-year-old niece Frances (Fanny) Leonora Hardey. In 1895, gold was discovered in the area by prospector Edward "Doodah" Sullivan at the Johannesburg lease just north of the current townsite. Tibradden Station
Tibradden or Tibradden Station is a pastoral lease that currently operates as a cattle station and had previously operated as a sheep station. It is located about north east of Greenough and east of Geraldton in the Mid West region of Western Australia. The name Tibradden is taken from the name of an estate in Ireland near Dublin. The property comprising had been established in 1852 and was owned by John S. Davis, J. P. Walcott and M. Logue, who dissolved their partnership in 1854. The land was divided, with Davis' portion retaining the name of Tibradden and comprising approximately , Walcott naming his Miininooka, and Logue calling his Ellendale. Mount Narryer Station
Mount Narryer or Mount Narryer Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station and had previously operated as a sheep station. Description It is located about north of Yalgoo and north east of Kalbarri in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Mount Narryer occupies an area of leasehold and freehold with a carrying capacity of 11,000 sheep. Situated along the Murchison River, the property is broken into 18 paddocks of mulga scrubland with one permanent spring, four dams and 40 bores equipped with windmills.
