Ytteren Church
Ytteren Church ( no, Ytteren kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ytteren, a northern suburb of the town of Mo i Rana. It is the main church for the Nord-Rana parish which is part of the Indre Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The brick church was built in a Churches in Norway#Floor plan, rectangular style in 1977 using plans drawn up by the architect Nils Toft. The church seats about 500 people. The church was consecrated on 4 September 1977 by Bishop Bjarne Odd Weider. Rana is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Mo i Rana, which houses the National Library of Norway. Other population centers in Rana include Båsmoen, Dunderland, Eiteråga, Flostrand, Hauknes, Mæla, Myklebustad, Nevernes, Røssvoll, Selfors, Skonseng, Storforshei, Utskarpen, and Ytteren. Bjarne Odd Weider
Bjarne Odd Weider (1913—1985) was the Bishop of the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland from 1969 until 1982. Weider was born on 17 June 1913 in Trondheim, Norway. He received his Cand.theol. degree in 1936 from the MF Norwegian School of Theology in Oslo. For several years he worked for the Norwegian Missionary Society. He was a parish priest in Hurdal from 1955 until 1961. He was the rector at the MF Norwegian School of Theology from 1961 until 1969. In 1969 he was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland Sør-Hålogaland is a diocese in the Church of Norway.
