The Estonian Social Democratic Youth ( et, Noored Sotsiaaldemokraadid, colloquially ''Noorsotsid'') is the youth wing organisation of the Social Democratic Party of Estonia. The organisation has been a member of the International Union of Socialist Youth since 1996 and a member of the Young European Socialists since 2001. The current president is Õnne Paulus and the vice presidents are Robert Kiisler and Andreas Põšnograjev. History The party got its name on 3 May 2003. The former name was the Youth Moderates (''Noored Mõõdukad'') in 1998–2003 when the Estonian Social Democratic Youth Union (''Eesti Sotsiaaldemokraatlik Noorteliit'') and Young Centrists (''Noored Tsentristid'') united. Young Social Democrats ( sk, Mladí sociálni demokrati, MSD) is a social-democratic youth organization in Slovakia connected to the political party Direction – Social Democracy. History ''MSD'' was founded in 2002 from the merger of ''Social Democratic Youth of Slovakia'' (SDMS) and ''Young Democratic Left'' (MDL). While formally an independent organization, ''MSD'' has strengthened its ties with the social democratic Smer party by signing a pact on mutual cooperation in 2008. Political position ''MSD'' plays a decidedly pragmatic role focusing on promoting democratic participation, the rule of law, ecological behaviour. Social Democrats, USA (SDUSA) is a social-democratic organization established in 1972 as the successor of the Socialist Party of America (SPA). The SPA had stopped running independent presidential candidates though retains the term "party" in their name. SDUSA, which was fiercely anti-communist, pursued a strategy of political realignment intended to organize labor unions, civil rights organizations and other constituencies into a coalition that would transform the Democratic Party into a social-democratic party. The realignment strategy emphasized working with unions and especially the AFL–CIO, putting an emphasis on economic issues that would unite working class voters. SDUSA opposed the Senator George McGovern's "New Leftist" approach, pointing to the rout suffered in the 1972 presidential election. Social Democratic Party (UK, 1990–present)
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is a minor political party in the United Kingdom established in 1990. Ideologically, the SDP combines social conservatism with centre-left economic policy and support for a social market economy alongside Euroscepticism. Founded by Jack Holmes, it has been led by William Clouston since 2018. The current party traces its origin to the Social Democratic Party which was formed in 1981 by a group of dissident Labour Party Members of Parliament (MPs) and former Cabinet members Roy Jenkins, David Owen, Bill Rodgers and Shirley Williams, who became known as the Gang of Four. The original SDP merged with the Liberal Party in 1988 to form the Liberal Democrats, but Owen, two other MPs and a minority of party activists formed a breakaway group also called the Social Democratic Party (1988–1990) immediately afterwards.
