Young Hoosier Book Award
The Young Hoosier Book Award (YHBA) is an annual book award given by the Indiana Library Federation. It is divided into three categories: Picture Books (kindergarten through second grade), Intermediate (third through fifth grade), and Middle Grade (sixth through eighth grade). It encourages self-selected reading among elementary and middle school/junior high school children. Indiana students vote for their favorite among the 20 nominees in each category. It gave its first award in 1975, to ''The Trumpet of the Swan'' by E. B. White. The YHBAs added the Intermediate and Middle Grade categories in 1896, and the Picture Book category in 1992. The most recent winners (2023 - 2024) were ''There's a Ghost in This House'' by Oliver Jeffers (Picture Book), ''What Comes Next'' by Rob Buyea Rob Buyea (born September 12, 1976) is an American children's fiction author best known for his ''Mr. Terupt'' series of novels. Hervey Bay Airport is the main airport for the city of Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia and the Fraser Coast region which incorporates the nearby city of Maryborough. The airport, which is located southeast of Pialba, re-opened in mid-2005, after the existing airfield underwent an $11.5 million upgrade which included the construction of a new terminal building and the extension of the existing runway to to accommodate jet services from Virgin Australia. Up until September 2006, Sunshine Express Airlines provided daily services to the airport from Brisbane. The airline ceased all scheduled operations on 1 October 2006 after a proposed acquisition by Regional Express Airlines was terminated and an intention by QantasLink for the introduction of Brisbane services was announced. A literary award or literary prize is an award presented in recognition of a particularly lauded literary piece or body of work. It is normally presented to an author. The Indiana Library Federation (ILF) is a professional organization for Indiana's librarians, library workers, and trustees. The Trumpet Of The Swan
''The Trumpet of the Swan'' is a children's novel by E. B. White published in 1970. It tells the story of Louis (pronounced "LOO-ee" by the author in the audiobook, a reference to trumpeter Louis Armstrong, a point that is made explicit in the book), a trumpeter swan born without a voice who overcomes this difficulty by learning to play a trumpet in order to impress a beautiful swan named Serena. Oliver Jeffers
Oliver Brendan Jeffers (born 1977) is a Northern Irish artist, illustrator and writer who now lives and works in Brooklyn. He went to the integrated secondary school Hazelwood College, then graduated from the University of Ulster in 2001. Life and work From figurative painting and installation, to illustration and picture-book making, his work has been exhibited in New York, The Brooklyn Museum, Berlin, Dublin, London, Sydney, Washington, D.C., and Belfast. Rob Buyea (born September 12, 1976) is an American children's fiction author best known for his ''Mr. Terupt'' series of novels. In 2011, Buyea won an E.B. White Read Aloud Award for ''Because of Mr. Terupt''. He is now a full time author, residing with his wife, three daughters, and two dogs in North Andover, Massachusetts.
